Insomnia

Yes, minna-chan, I'm finally back from the bowels of the Hades known
to most people as school! I've been writing furiously these past few
weeks, so hopefully some other, longer fics will come shortly. I'm
working on a new one *hears groans* . . . HEY! It's not that bad. This
"secret project" will come out all at once, so no waiting. Stairway to
Heaven is coming along nicely (for those of you who still remember that
fic . . . it's been a while since I've tried to write it), and I've got some new
inspiration for Meadowlark, so never fear. My "falling off the edge of the
Earth" syndrome has been successfully beaten back. Anyway, I hope you
enjoy this! ^_^

Half a soul
crying out against the
iron-cord-tight bonds
of an almost-eternity
wails its anguish
through tormented,
fervent glimpses
of inner conflict
that devour every last
slipping-away and tattered
angel-shred of heart

It's nights like these when the words won't come and the music
fills my soul that I can dance. Chants rise from my bones like
summer-cloud-hazed stars, teaching me the proper motion to swivel my
hips, extend my arms, point my toes. I am restless in the twilight,
yearning for something nameless in nature that may yet come . . . filling
my heart to overflowing with moon-passion, trembling and irrational.
Like a river-side willow, I sway to a rhythm all my own, gloriously
unique, pure-and the easterly breeze plays across my twisting body
like on might strum a shamisen.
Insomnia strangles in its power, proving how completely the
full orb in the arching cobalt heavens has seduced me. Tonight, I belong
only to the Earth, closer to it than I ever will be to another human. It's
almost unnatural, but then the intoxicating scent of the dark-coated forest
is unusual enough; perhaps I need not dissect its reasoning more than is
necessary.
All of the sudden, my steps grind to a halt as my outstretched
fingers gesture towards a shadowy figure, a newcomer invading my
moonlit-rapture. Grasping my knuckles gently in his hand, he draws me
through the fresh-cut grass, closer to his body. It is not the night air I smell
now, but his scent, so unfamiliar and yet so invitingly warm that I cannot
deny him. My other hand reaches for his shoulder; I sense his resting
ever-so-lightly against my back.
"What are you doing out here in the woods at this ungodly hour?"
he asks. His tone carries worry over the harshness of the question.
"Dancing," I answer breathlessly, "only dancing."
"Show me," he pleads, almost inaudible against the descending
midnight world's silence.
And I do. Step by step, I guide his feet until he gains control and
moves us both to greater heights, swirling through the trees on river-swift
limbs, showing me the error of my thoughts: one is not better than two,
simply different. I think I might grow to love this strange feeling
overcoming me now as much as I have adored my solitude.
I caress his cheek and smile, knowing that although he can't see me,
he completely understands my emotions because they course through his
racing blood as fast as mine.

Yes, that poem is mine. I've copyrighted all of my poetry, so just in case
anyone has decided to plagiarize, you've been beaten already, and I'll
sue. ^^;; I do mean that. But if you want to use anything I've written
and ask first, I'll gladly agree! *smiles*

If you liked this short blurt, or even if you didn't, I'd love to hear from you!
I promise I don't bite. ^_~
