THE BEAUTIFULL LIGHT.
Kagome let go of a breath she didn't know she was holding. All was safe for the moment. They had found Naraku on his one night of weakness, the night of the half moon. He had turned human right in front of the inu-tachi, it was an indescribably grotesque sight the human form of Naraku or, Onigumo.
And finding their foe on such a compromising time they had taken their opening and killed him. All his minions were there as well and were each taken down in turn including the heart of Onigumo. The Inu-tachi had fought whole heartedly in this battle, even shippou joined in to fight some of the lesser demons with Miroku and Sango, all the while Inu yasha and Kagome had been working together hard to bring down Onigumo. A combination of their powers had brought down Naraku and they were all quite proud.
Kagome had walked forward and purified the jewel and it appeared as if that was that. And as dawn approached and Miroku, Sango, Shippou and kirara fell into a much-deserved sleep just off the battlefield, the demons that Naraku had released for the night came rushing back for the jewel.
Inu yasha nowhere to be seen and all the others in a deep sleep Kagome was forced to defend herself once more. Only, alone…
She diverted the demons over the other side of the clearing away from her friends and reached back for an arrow only to find she had used the last one on Naraku. She swore and began to run hoping to god she would run into Inu yasha. She ran for two hours before her legs finally gave out and were unusable. She turned to fight once more but was quickly grabbed by the tentacles, arms, legs and other appendages of the hoard of demon that wee now holding her in a vice like grip.
Kagome attempted to use her miko powers but only managed to singe the tentacles around her and anger the demons. It had been from the beginning a one-sided battle she realized and as the grip around her tightened she realized there were only two things she could do.
Make a wish
And then
Die in piece.
"I wish…" the pressure around her increased, "the jewel was," -she felt and heard all her ribs shatter inside her along with her spine- "destroyed with my life!" she managed to sputter out, followed by blood.
The jewel glowed brightly in response to her wish and her eyes fluttered closed. 'So this is how I… die.'
