A/N: This was just a little something that popped into my head after thinking about how close Michael and Jackie often are and a conversation I had with a couple of friends of mine about "A-Frame Hugs." I also discussed the idea with beautywithin22 and we couldn't decide which character would be better to use, Taggart or Robbie, so I used both :) Hope you enjoy :)
This is also loosely based on the prompt "share" as they are sharing a file. (I say loosely based as I may use the prompt again, who knows? :P)

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

The Six-Inch Rule

Jim Taggart stepped out of his office and paused, taking in the scene before him with a roll of his eyes. Michael was talking to Jackie about a file she was holding; only it wasn't quite that simple.

They were never that simple.

The file was spread out on her desk and he was leaning over the back of her chair to look at it, close enough that every time Jackie turned to make a comment their noses almost bumped. Taggart marvelled that what was essentially a domineering or aggressive posture could look so protective and affectionate when adopted by those two.

"Haven't you two heard of the six inch rule?" he barked out, adopting a stern facade.

Both of them jumped and looked up at him guiltily. He suppressed a grin at the sight.

"Sir?" Michael queried.

"I said, 'haven't you two heard of the six inch rule?'" he repeated, "Honestly, Michael, if you got any closer to her you'd be sitting in her lap," he added, enjoying teasing them. Michael turned slightly pink and Jackie tried valiantly to suppress a grin.

"Sorry sir," Michael offered, still making no move to change his position. Taggart resisted the urge to grin.

"Just watch that you're not giving the wrong impression, all right?" he suggested.

They glanced at each other and something passed between them before Michael turned back to Taggart, "Yes sir," he replied.

Again, neither of them made a move to separate and, for lack of anything else to do, Taggart shook his head and left.

...

"Hasn't anyone ever told you two about the six inch rule?" Robbie asked, shaking his head at Michael and Jackie who were looking at a file together, both invading each other's personal space as they did so.

Whatever response he had expected to receive from the pair having them look at each other and burst out laughing was certainly not it.

He turned to Stuart as they moved off, both still chuckling, "I think I missed something."
