"Hey, Peatrice, what are you doing tonight?"

The item check girl fell into a fit of giggles. "Not much. Did you have something in mind, handsome?"

"I was wondering if you'd like to go to the Lumpy Pumpkin for a bit," Link responded suavely.

"Sure! Um... You'll fly?" She asked.

"Sure, but is there a reason you can't fly yourself? My loftwing's seen a lot of action lately, and I don't remember if I've ever even seen yours."

"I... don't have one. My father refused to conduct the bonding ritual," she admitted with obvious shame.

Ah, the Skyloftian Bonding Ritual. Link remembered his quite well. During the ritual, one of a three-year-old child's parents would fly below the plaza. The other would toss the kid off into the sky. The child was almost always immediately caught by a young loftwing, but the role of the flying parent was to ensure their safety if something went wrong. Link could easily see Peatrice's overprotective father refusing to perform the ritual.

Link smiled. "Don't worry about it, then. Maybe it's not too late to get one, if you want? In the meantime, let's get some pumpkin soup!"

Meanwhile, somewhere on the surface, a certain Demon Lord came across the remains of yet another human toddler.

"These Sky-idiots need a better plan than chucking their kids off the island..." he said in amusement.

I should explain. This was spawned by a conversation between my dad and I the other day. There were a few other theories thrown around too... (My dad is awesome). I just wanted to throw this out there before I forgot :P
