Summary: She leaned over… and whispered "I love you, but our chance passed long ago…" then she was gone…

Prologue

"SAKURAAAA!" an unknown figure screamed into the dark woods, as he chased after something… or someone.

The person named Sakura slowed down for a second, but sped up right afterwards. The mysterious figure ran faster as well, almost as if he was chasing for his life. They ran for what seemed like hours, but were actually only minutes, until he finally caught up with her.

"Why Sakura-chan, why are you leaving too?" the figure asked desperately as he fixed his cerulean eyes onto the petite woman.

"Naruto…. You know we can never be the same as before. I tried, I really did, but just because you try doesn't mean you'll succeed" Sakura replied, staring at nothing but the dirt floor beneath her.

"Sakura-chan…." Naruto whispered

"Naruto, you need to live on, and lead our village to be the best it can be…., only you can do it, I know you can. I've been thinking about this for a long time already. I NEED to leave, I have too. If I stay in Konoha any longer, I'm going to go crazy. It's almost as if he's everywhere, I've dealt with this for 5 years already, and I'm done…" Someone once said, "Forgetting is painful, but forcing yourself to remember is even more so…" "I'm going to leave, and I'm going to start over… and become someone I'll be proud of and not just a person who lives in the shadows of others…" Sakura stated, and she looked up into the dark grey sky.

"Sakura-chan, you are someone to be proud of, you don't need to do this to yourse-"

"BUT I WANT TO!….." she screamed out as she cut him off.

Naruto gave up trying to persuade her with words, when he saw the look in her eyes. They held determination. He knew that no one could stop her; she wasn't going to give up even if it killed her.

"Alright, Sakura-chan…but I won't let you go that easily" Naruto said as he readied into battle stance.

"Alright Naruto, do it the hard way…." Sakura whispered, and she pulled out a few kunai...

She flung them at Naruto, and he dogged. This gave Sakura enough time to charge towards him with her fists full of chakra. Naruto barley dodged Sakura's punch. He charged towards her and created clones of him ready to do the rasengan. Sensing the incoming danger, Sakura disappeared in a flutter of cherry blossoms, and reappeared behind him. She delievered a round house kick onto his back. While he was down she injected his arm with a substance and stood back…

"Naruto, I'm sorry but even you can't stop me from doing this… you'll be fine after a few hours. I'll miss you but I have to go" Sakura gently told him as he stared at her through glazed eyes.

"Sakura-chan, I'll find you…...even if I have to look through the deepest pits of the earth, I won't give up until I find you…" Naruto forced out, and he began to lose consciousness.

Sakura stared down at him, and couldn't help but feel the faintest amount of regret. He was her best friend, and the brother she had always wanted. Sakura really didn't want to give that all up, but she had to…

"Naruto…Goodbye" Sakura whispered as she forced herself to start running deeper into the woods.

Naruto whispered something to her that he was sure she didn't hear just before losing consciousness.

But she did hear, and those would be the words that would haunt her forever….

"You leaving…..won't bring him back….."

BelFran:So yea, i have problems writing long chapters but i will work on that. Anyways, tell me what you guys think...both reviews and flames are helpful~~
