Its just a question. Just a question. Just a question. You chant this in your head over and over again while clutching a folded up piece of notebook paper in your hands. You sit on a small bench against the wall of your high school, under the small awning that keeps the rain off the entrance. It rains so fucking much here you can hardly stand it, fucking Washington. A swarm of kids flood out of the school entrance, eager to go party their Friday night away. As you watch them leave a tall, tan, brunette girl in a magenta sundress catches your eye.

"Sollux!" She calls, making her way out of the pack and bouncing over to you, "are you gonna do it?" She giggles and ruffles her hand through your bright blonde hair.

"Mhmm" shaking a bit you pull your knees up to your chest. You haven't spoken much today besides whispering to Karkat at lunch to meet you outside the main entrance after school. Nerves had gotten the better of you.

"I'm sure it'll be fine! He'll say yes and you'll have the best time ever! Can I see the note?" She holds her hand out for the paper in your hands and you place it in her waiting fingers. Unfolded it read 'KK, you're really awesome and I like you a lot. Will you go to Homecoming with me?' She looks at it then folds it up and hands it back. "Don't let it freak you out, things will work out fine. I've gotta go, good luck!"

"Bye FF," you manage to mumble out as she walks to the student parking lot. You unfold the note and read it over and over. Is this really a good idea? You think about running off and ditching Karkat before someone flops down on the bench next to you.

"Hey asshole." He greets you. Anyone who didn't know KK would have been offended, but this was just his own personal way of saying hello. He shakes out his rain dampened ginger hair before turning to you. "So what the fuck did you want?" You hug your knees closer and give a small wave, unable to make eye contact. "Not gonna fucking talk?" He asks, he glares a bit at the way you're siting. "What's up with you?"

You shakily toss the folded up paper to him and turn your head away. Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god is all you can think. You wait for him to respond, when he doesn't you start to panic. This was a bad idea, he doesn't feel the same way, he's going to hate you. You're about to get up an apologize when you feel a hand on your arm.

"Sollux," he whispers, you look up and see him blushing a bright red, probably matching your own face at this point. His face comes closer to yours and your heart beats fast. You open your mouth to say something but fall quiet when you feel a pair of soft lips press to your cheek. "Yes" his voice is almost inaudible, "I'll go with you."

You can feel your face get hot and a smile pull at your mouth. "Tho" you find yourself able to talk again, "Uhhh, wanna do thomething?" Curse your lisp.

He grins against the side of your face, "Well, there was a new film out a week ago I've been dying to see." A Romcom, Of course. He stands up pulling you up as well, taking your hand in his and lacing your fingers together. You walk off together through the rain, but you don't really mind it.
