What have I done?
"Hey, Rosalie you'll never guess what Jasper just told me…." Emmett began as he rushed into their bedroom but stopped when he realize that she was on her cell phone and not paying any attention to him.
"Now you can come home Edward, there no reason for you to hunt for Victoria anymore." She was saying and Emmett had a sinking feeling what she had just done. He rushed to her and gaps the phone from her hand and spoke urgently
"Edward, man…" but he got not further when she gap it back saying.
"He's already hung up."
"Shit. What have you done, Rose?" He asked while pulling out his own phone and quickly dialing Edward's cell. "Busy." He mutter while he shut the phone then just as quickly open back up and began texting in a message. At the same time muttering at Rosalie…
"Why would you do that to him?"
"He needed to know."
"You don't tell someone that someone they love has died over the phone!" frowning as he read that the message didn't reach Edward's cell.
"He needed to know." she repeated. "Beside now he can get over this silly human and get back to normal."
"She was his mate." He wasn't looking at her he was busy dialing his phone again but this time the voice that answered had an accent. He was puzzled for a moment then realized that Edward must have thrown the phone down. He also realize that this was not good because that meant that Edward was going to do something his family would try to talk him out of, so now they couldn't reach him and they had no real idea where he was.
"She was human." She argued back repeating herself again.
"She was his mate! How about if it was me, Rose. Would you want to be told over the phone or with your family surrounding you?" He was finally looking at her but she found no support there. For the first time ever, Emmett was not there for her. Even when they disagreed Emmett was there for her but not now. Over a human. She stare back at him stubbornly but her eyes gave her away at the thought of losing him but he took no comfort in the fact that losing him would be that bad for her. He was so disappointed in her.
"Right, good thing the rest of the family is not as shallow as you." Letting her know that this time her thinking about herself first was not going to wash. He turned to the door and rushed out. She heard him call out Jasper's name in an anxious voice. Before she could leave the room to find out what he was saying to Jasper the house phone on her desk rang.
"Hello?" Then heard Alice's voice
"He and Esme are still hunting." She answered.
"A plane.. what?" But she got no further because Alice's question was one she was sure she didn't want to answer.
"Yeah, I just talked to him….and I told him about Bella." She finished.
"He needed to know." She repeated weakly when she heard the same question asked of her that her husband had asked.
"Wrong? What you mean? Is she's not dead?"
"But you saw her jump into the water."
"How could you get that wrong? You didn't see her come back up."
"Fine, we'll tell Edward it was a mistake and everything will be fine."
"Why wrong?...Surely you didn't see Edward kill himself over her, did you?"
"I didn't mean for this to happen."
She winced at what Alice said and then she heard the phone on the other line click shut
"I am sorry" She whispered.
