That grey sky persisted to hover Storybrooke. The biting wind made all the residents hiding inside their homes. Cold empty street with a couple of cars traveling the way home. It was almost palpable the haze coming from the icy ocean, spreading across the town.
Regina was by yourself sitting on a small bench near the pier, watching the waves clashing against the leaden stones. All events began to surface in her mind, she've lost everything, mother, son, people's confidence, dignity. Nobody wanted to believe in her anymore, her fate was written already. She'd has to runaway from the city and raise another life or let herself being trapped for a murder that she didn't committed. She used to be strong woman, a queen with power and magic in her hands, but in that time, she was nothing but a broken little girl, as she was many years ago, with her hair tied in braids, riding her beautiful horse through the fields, waiting for the day that she'd be free. But that day has never come, she knew she was stucked within her own bad decisions, doomed to be manipulated by those who said that wanted to help her.
The tears began to fall, she felt like the pain would be there forever, it had to stop. With shaky legs she rose slowly going towards the sea, tooking her coat off and and leaving it lying on gravel. With her boots she did the same. Her feet began to feel the cold damp ground and slowly some small waves were beating up the hem of her pants. She kept walking, and the salt water was soaking her clothes until her whole body was covered. She was sinking.
Before her ears stop hearing the sounds coming from the surface, she could be able to hear hurried footsteps. It was Emma. She started to scream the ex Mayor's name aloud, entered in the sea and grabbed Regina by her arms who was resisting to be rescued. Finally, Emma could bring Regina out of the water.
- What were you thinking?! Why did you do this?! You stupid! - Emma shouted, passing her right hand over Regina's face. The brunette was cold as snow and coughing a lot because of the water that entered her lungs.
- Why didn't you let me there? - She started to cry again looking at Emma's face who seemed really worried. Her breathing was intense and she had tears in her eyes also. - I ain't got nothing left to lose 'cause I've already lost everything. Even YOU don't believe in me anymore. I was ready to go away.
- Don't say that! If you had gone, I'd feel guilty for the rest of my life! - The sheriff hold tight Regina's hand and helped her to sit on the same bench she was before the incident.
Regina took a deep breath starring her soaked feet. Emma, still holding hands, lift Regina's chin with the other hand, making the woman look into her eyes.
- I know you didn't.
- Did you got any information?
- No, but I trust you. I'm sorry I've left me blind by... Magic. My heart means more than this to me, and it's saying that you're not guilty. And after what you almost did, I'm sure. - She realized she still had her hand on Regina's face, caressing it with her thumb. That's when she stopped and looked away quickly. But before she lowered her hand, Regina grabbed it, leaning into her face again. The eyes met once more.
- What are you doing, Reg..
- I have no idea - she replied in low voice before Emma could finish her question.
They were approaching, their eyes began to focus on each other's lips, in a split second, they began to feel the breathing mix, the cold from the lungs of Regina with the heat coming from Emma. Their mouths fell into an unexpected kiss. Emma held Regina's face, who in turn, tangled her fingers in the sheriff's blond hair. When both started getting breathless, they moved away a few inches, looking at each other.
- I thin.. I think you.. You need dry clothes. - Regina agreed signaling a "yes" with her head.
- Do you give me a ride? - They smile as they had never smiled before.
