Harry, Ron, and Hermione headed back up to Gryffindor tower, after talking to Dumbledore's portrait. Everyone was quiet as they walked through the castle. No one made any movement to talk. When they reached the fat lady's portrait, they realized that they didn't have the password. When she saw them approaching, she automatically opened up for them. They entered the common room and saw that most people had decided to go to bed. There were a few stragglers left that gave them a half hearted greeting. Like most other people they headed straight for the dormitories, to get long awaited sleep. Little did Harry know he was being watched. As Ginny watched him, she thought about everything that had happened this year. She decided that she would just talk to him in the morning. Meanwhile, Harry was thinking about Ginny and how he wished he could explain to her why he left. He owed her that much. Before he went into his dormitory, he looked back into the common room and saw Ginny watching him. In that moment, he made a split second decision to ask Ginny to stay with him. He went back down the stairs and walked up to her. He offered his hand to her and she paused. She looked into his eyes and saw what he was trying to say. She gladly took it and he lead her up to his room. He looked into her eyes and he knew he had to tell her soon. She was hurting because he wasn't there. "Ginny?" he whispered.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to know what happened the past year? What I did?"
"Yes, I do but you don't have to tell me if you're not ready."
"I want to. I wanted you to be the first to know."
"Really?"
"Yes. It started in my 6th year before Dumbledore died. Voldemort had always been interested in making himself immortal. He created 7 horcruxes. He split his soul and put it into different objects. All but one were family heirlooms passed down from the founders. One had already been destroyed by Dumbledore. The ring. That's why I left, so I could finish destroying the horucruxes."
"But why did you have to do that to me? Why did you have to fake your death?"
"That's something I didn't expect. Apparently, on the night my parents died, Voldemort accidently created an eight horcrux. I was the final horcrux."
"Was that when you went into the forest?"
"Yes. I saw you Ginny. I wanted to stop but if I did I know I wouldn't be able to leave you again."
"I'm guessing that was you who broke into Gringots?"
"Yes. Do you mind if we wait to tell you the full story? I'm really tired and I'd rather not tell it more than once."
"Sure that's fine Harry."
"I have a question for you now. Do you want to try again? Will you be my girlfriend again?"
"I would love to Harry."
"Okay. Stay with me?"
She grinned at him and they shared a sweet kiss before falling asleep in each others arms.
