AN: Well, I had an Idea for a one shot about Hermione while rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I hope you all enjoy this!
Hermione paced the floor of the small house she lived in with her parents. She had been thinking since the end of sixth year about what she was planning to do. She knew she was going to search for horcruxes with Harry and Ron, in the hopes that they might be able to defeat Voldemort.
"Hermione?" A female voice called from the entrance of the room. "Are you alright?" Hermione looked up at her mother, her eyes slowly filling with tears as she shook her head. "What's wrong, dear?"
"Mum, can you ask Dad to come in here? There's something I need to tell both of you," the witch said softly, her mind already set on what she had to do for their safety. Her mother left the room and returned with her father, looking as concerned as his wife does.
"What's wrong, Hermione?" her mother asked again. The girl motioned for them both to sit down. She took a deep breath, then began to talk.
"You know everything weird that has been happening?" Hermione began. Her parents nodded, still concerned. "There's a reason for that. There's this dark wizard, Voldemort, who is trying to take over the wizarding world. We're in a war right now. If Voldemort controls the wizarding world, then he'll kill muggles, like you two." She stopped to wipe her eyes and allow her parents absorb the information.
"So what's going to happen?" Her father asked, shocked and confused.
"My friend, Harry, defeated Voldemort as a baby. He's the only one who can defeat Voldemort. I'm travelling with him-"
"No you're not!" Mr. Granger exclaimed and rose. Hermione rose as well, but she drew her wand as she did so. Her mother looked from her husband to her daughter, terrified.
"I promised him I would!" she cried, crying openly. "And because I'm going with him, Voldemort and his followers are going to come looking for you. Other muggles can't protect you-"
"So we'll go into hiding."
"It won't be that easy. They're powerful. There's only one thing I can do to protect you both. To keep you both out of danger. But I don't want to." The witch collapsed back on the couch, still crying while gripping her wand. Her parents looked at her, still terrified. Then, everything she said sunk in.
"What are you going to do?" Her mother asked cautiously.
"A memory charm. I'll make it so you forget about me. So you can go far away. It'll keep you happy and, when this is all over, I'll return and lift the spells."
"And if you don't?" Hermione's mother was crying along with her daughter. Hermione didn't answer her mother, not even looking her parents in the eyes.
With the information needed for the memory charm in her mind, she raised her wand and murmured "Obliviate," leaving the two muggles obviously dazed.
Taking advantage of this, the witch summoned everything she needed and Apparated to the Burrow, pausing to look at her parents one last time. "Forget you have a daughter, forget her name is Hermione Granger," she pleaded silently, then, she arrived at the Burrow.
AN: Well, I just needed to get this out of my system. I hope you all enjoyed it. Please review and tell me what you thought of it? I respond to any and all reviews. Thanks!
