"Run" He shouts above the ticking of the clockwork men. We're on a bloody ship, where does he expect me to run to? Blindly I go where my feet lead me, down twisting corridors and endless passageways. I can hear the ticking of the Mascarade Monsters closing in. Where is the Doctor?
As I burst through the double doors and into what I could only assume is the ship's ballroom the hard truth finally hits me.I have nowhere to go.
"Doctor!" I scream his name over and over "Doctor Help!"
The leering faces shepard me into the middle of the room, clockwork ticking and looming eyes smiling evily. A final scream catches in my throat. Though blured eyes see him running towards me. The clockwork men start tearing away my cothes, searching for the organs beneath my skin.
My hazel eyes meet his and all the fun we've had this year flashes through my mind. All the places I've been to, all the wonders I've witnessed. We've fought for our lives so many times but I know in my heart that today will be my last adventure.
"Ellie!" I can hear her screaming. Never before have I heard such panic in that girl's voice.
I run though the open doors of the ballroom. They're all crowded around her, they don't even look up as I enter the room. I keep running towards the monsters, their moronic ticking growing louder as I draw close. Over the room our eyes meet. She confidently holds my gaze as I take the last few steps and fall to her side, pushing the demonic band of robots away.
Blood stains her torn clothes and her body is broken. I look at her and she smiles.
"Thank you Doctor." She whispers
"No, no don't you leave me yet." I wave my sonic over her body and I know I have no hope. Her vitals are dropping, she mas seconds left. "You are so brave, the bravest ever. So wonderful, Ellie."
As the shining light leaves her eyes I push the soft blonde hair from her face and lightly kiss her forehead. Looking around at the sadistic grinning machines I lay her body on the ground and stand to face them.
"I hope she's enough." I'm yelling. I don't care. "I hope she get's you home. Because if I ever. Cross you again, it will be the last time."
With that I run, back to my TARDIS and back to the stars. Just a madman and his box, alone again. I failed her, she was a great girl, a true companion. The tears begin to fall.
