Scabior tied the laces of his boots and listened at the entrance of his tent to see if his team were asleep, before stepping out. Loud snores could be heard from the surrounding tents. He checked the coast was clear and left the camp so he wouldn't wake anyone when he apparated. Concentrating as hard as he could, Scabior closed his eyes and apparated to an alley-way he hoped would be empty. Luckily, it was. Scabior checked the coast was clear again, ensuring no one was looking out of windows, before taking the five minute walk to the house of an old friend. Now wasn't the time to be making personal calls, especially at 2am, but he had to know what became of his old girlfriend. He climbed over a wall, and quietly jumped into the garden, hoping they hadn't recently gotten a dog. Looking up, Scabior saw her bedroom light was on. He picked up some small stones and threw them lightly against the window. After three stones, she came to the window, not at all happy to see him.
"Scabior! What the hell are you doing here?"
"Tonks! Darlin'! I got out!"
Nymphadora Tonks looked down at the scruffy looking man, grinning at her from her back garden.
"What are you doing here Scabior?" she hissed.
"Come down 'ere an' talk!"
Tonks sighed; "I don't-"
"-Please Love, I've been away for so long!"
Sighing once more, Tonks looked around before leaving the window, tip-toeing out of the back door a few moments later. Scabior walked over and pulled her into a hug, going to kiss her, but Tonks moved so he kissed her cheek. She stepped back, folding her arms across her chest.
"Seriously Scabior, what do you want?"
Scabior shrugged; "came to see 'ow you were, we parted on such bad terms."
"...You cheated on me!"
"We were on a break-"
"-We were NOT on a break Scabior, I went to Wales for the weekend and came back to find you'd had a go on every girl in Camden!"
Scabior looked at his feet ashamedly; "it wasn't every girl... An' I'm different not! Azkaban changed me!"
"Sure it did, not for better I'm guessing. Besides, you can't turn up out of the blue, at two in the morning may I add, and expect to get me back!"
"Why not?"
"You ruined this! We were great together, but you had to cheat... Anyway, who said I'm single?"
Scabior looked up, a hurt look on his face; "you're not?"
"No, actually. In fact, I'm married."
Scabior's eyes widened; "married? To who?"
"...Remus Lupin."
"...The werewolf? But he's like, 40! And such a square! He wears cardigans, and... How did you go from me, to that?"
"He's 36, actually, and the most wonderful person I've ever met! And I went from you to him because I'm not 18 any more, I don't want someone reckless and wild, I want to settle down, start a family."
"Start a family? With that?"
Tonks sighed angrily; "stop referring to him as 'that'! He's my husband, and the father of my unborn child!"
Scabior looked into Tonks' eyes, then at her stomach, then into her eyes again. He pointed at her stomach.
"You're pregnant?"
Tonks was wearing a baggy dressing gown, so Scabior hadn't noticed the slight bump; he'd actually assumed she'd just put on weight. Tonks looked back at him with pride.
"Yes."
"But-"
"-Just leave, Scabior. You don't waltz back into my life and expect to get me back. And don't come back for me, don't come back at all."
Before Scabior could say anything, Tonks turned around again and stormed back into her house. Sighing, he left the Tonks' back garden and apparated back to camp, feelings of anger, jealousy and betrayal swirling around his body. He felt physically sick and dizzy. Tonks had been his favourite, and only real girlfriend; he'd hoped he'd have been able to rekindle what they once had, but he was too late, and the thought of her, happy, with someone else didn't feel too good.
