No Place Like Home
The islands no longer portrayed the suffocation and wonder that they once did. It felt like everything he'd been through had changed everything about the place. From the color of the sky to the temperature of the water. Or perhaps he had just been away too long to remember what they were like before.
Sora walked the pristine beaches of Destiny Islands, reminiscing on the journey he had just been on. It was a peculiar feeling, coming back to something you so desperately wanted to leave, and feeling nothing but wonderful nostalgia.
The cool breeze gazed his tan cheeks and he smiled to himself. This was home. Home was with Riku and Kairi, spending the days under the warm sun. It was a paradise he could live in forever.
His past perplexed him. What made him think of leaving? The other worlds he so longed to seek were nothing but trouble, nothing but uncertainty. They couldn't even rival the clarity that Sora felt about Destiny Islands.
Sora chuckled as he took a seat on the sandy beach. Maybe he was just bitter. He knew that in his heart he would never take back the experiences he had been through. They made him the person he is today. He was honored to be the hero everyone told him he was.
He turned his head as he heard a soft voice calling his name. His two best friends, the two people he cared about the most, were standing in front of him as safe as could be. There was nothing in the world that could make Sora feel so secure.
Kairi waved at him and Riku gave a tiny smirk. Sora leaped up off the sand and ran towards them. Yes, they were all together again. They were safe and sound and nothing was going to change that ever again. Not if Sora had anything to say about it.
For the first time in a long time, Sora truly had nothing to worry about. No lives he needed to save, no one he had to kill, no puzzles to solve. For now, he could just live.
After all, this was his home, and there's no place like home.
End.
