April the Fourth, was a historical day for many reasons; in 1143 it was the first historical record of Moscow. In 1581 Francis Drake waa knighted. 1609 saw Phillip III of Spain issue the decree of the "Expulsion of the Moriscos". 1721 Sir Robert Walpole took office as the first Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. 1768 In London, saw Philip Astley stages the first modern circus. 1812 saw James Madison enact a 90-day embargo on the UK. 1814 saw Napoleon abdicate first the first time and name his young son Emperor of Franch. 1818 had the US adapt the flag of stars and stripes. 1841 William Henry Harrison died. 1865 saw that, at time of the American Civil War, that President Lincoln visted Richmond, Virginia. The following year saw Alexander II of Russia narrowly escape an assassination on April Fourth. 1921 saw the Schutzstaffel founded in Germany. 1930, on this day was the founding of the Communist Party of Panama. 1939, Faisal II was made king of Iraq. 1945, during World War Two, American troops liberated Ohrdruf forced labor camp in Germany, and captured Kassel, while Soviet troops liberate Hungary from German occupation and occupied the country itself. In 1949, Twelve nations sign the North Atlantic Treaty. 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. delivers his "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence" speech in New York City's Riverside Church. He would be assassination a year later, on the same day in 1968 that NASA launched Apollo 6. 1983 saw the Challenger into space. So much happened on that date, and this small boy before him, his dark black hair still short, and a blank look to his blue eyes, could rattle off each and every one if allowed. Lex raised a hand to the boy in his small wheelchair (he allowed the boy to choose rhe colors and for each chair he picked the same- Red for the metal. But the chair he didn't care about. So it stayed black), but the boy didn't stop. Lex had to clear his throat.
"It was also yesterday."
"...so?" The child answered after a moment, his eyes having much more emotion now. He want to think about yesterday. All the yelling, and screaming, it was a mess as they left CADMUS.
"The point of a "sleep over'," Lex explained "as Guardian called it-"
"You said it was sleeping. I told you I couldn't sleep last night-"
"I remember," lex sighed, so glad Nightquil in Warm Milk exsisted, "-but as I was saying- the point is that it's just over night, son."
Superboy sort of wiggled at the last word, actually the whole topic. "So...I got to go back?" He asked, a normal child would've used "gotta" at this moment, but that's what happens when beings of pure formal science and education- educate.
"Actually, that's what I wanted to speak to you about over breakfast."
"But we aren't eating."
"It hasn't been served yet- I wanted to ask you if you wanted to stay."
The Superboy waa quiet for a few moments, looking around as if other things got his attention. "Not really?"
"You don't seem to understand- Superboy, what i'm offering you is a place- a home, not a pod- you are my son after all."
"...yeah. you keeping saying that." He started to figet a bit with his napkin front of him. "But I couldn't be a clone then."
"What?"
"Of Superman. A clone is an organism or cell, or group of organisms or cells, produced a-sexually from one ancestor or stock, to which they are genetically identical. If I am half of you, then I can't be Superman when I get bigger."
"Trust me, there's many other, greater men to be." Lex replied with a smile, but wither it was of genuine care, or manipulation would be hard to tell. Sometimes Lex couldn't even tell.
