Maria sat in her room holding a worn brown teddy bear. Her eyes were red from crying and tears still stained her cheeks. He had left. Gone to find the forth alien, the one called Nasado.
Max and Isabel had broken the news that morning. They were still hoping that Michael would come back. That he would realize they care about him and that they were his family. But Maria knew Michael better than that. Michael wouldn't just stop and give up after a few days. He was a fighter. No one knew that Michael had told her good-bye. Not even Liz. No one knew that he had climbed in her window a second time to let her know he was leaving. No one knew that he had promised to return to her.

The Night Before
***************
Maria was laying on her bed looking blankly at some homework, when she heard a tapping on her window. She turned to the sound a saw Michael looking at her through the glass. She moved to the window and openned it so that Michael could climb inside.
"What's up?" She asked as she moved back to her bed.
"Nothing. I just enjoy being hit by a rolled up newspaper." Michael joked.
"Very funny." Maria answered with a smile.
Michael smiled and moved to sit beside her. He put his arm around her and she leaned against him.
"You're leaving, aren't you?"
"What?"
"Well, I didn't think you'd want to stay."
"Why?"
"Michael, I know you better than that. You've always wanted to get out of Roswell and now you have the chance. I figured it was just a matter of time."
"I don't really have a reason to stay."
"Yes, you do. You're just too stubborn to see it."
"What do I have?"
"Max and Isabel."
"They'll do fine without me."
"Maybe, but will you do fine without them?"
"Okay, so I have friends. I need more than that."
"They're your family."
"Nasado's my family."
"Nasado is someone you've never met. Max and Isabel love you."
"I know, but I have to do this. If I don't I'll spend my life wondering."
"I know, but I want you to promise me something."
"What?"
"That you'll come back."
"I don't-"
"Just promise me. Maybe you won't be back tomorrow, or next week, or next month, maybe not even next year, but promise me that you will come back."
"I'll come back."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Thank you."

Present
***************
He'd be back. Someday. Michael may do a lot of things, but he would never break a promise to her.
The End!
