No Surprises

Okay I have no idea if this is going to be even remotely good, but I got this idea really late so I am not responsible. *Characters are not mine.*

"Phoebe what are you doing?" Piper asked her younger sister as she walked past the living room.

"Nothing." Came Phoebe's voice into the hallway.

"Uh-huh. Well, that pretty much means you're doing something I won't like." Piper answered back as she turned into the room. Sure enough there was Phoebe sitting on the floor, practically half way under the Christmas tree.

At first Piper had no idea what on earth Phoebe could be doing until she saw her sister reaching for different presents.

"Phoebe, are you shaking you gifts?" she asked

"No." Phoebe asked looking up at her sister with a slightly guilty expression.

"Then what are you doing? Because I know you're not just sitting under there for fun."

Phoebe bit her lip as she tried to come up with a good excuse, but it was hard. She should have just let Piper think she was shaking her gifts...it was close to the truth anyway. Just then her hand slipped onto a different package and Phoebe was unable to stop herself from saying, "Great choice for Leo, Piper. He's going to love it."

"What? Phoebe!" Piper realized exactly what her sister was doing under the family Christmas tree.

"I'm sorry." Phoebe muttered as she climbed out from under the tree.

"I can't believe you were sitting under to find out what everyone was getting for Christmas."

"Well, actually I just wanted to find out what Cole got me, and then one thing lead to another and I just went a little overboard."

"Phoebe, its personal gain."

"Well, not really. I mean, its not like I'm using it for anything, it was just curiosity. Oh, by the way, Paige has really good taste."

"Phoebe!"

"Sorry."

"What about the surprise. Half the fun in getting a gift is not knowing what it is."

"I know, but you know I'm not really one to wait, and I don't really like surprises anyway. Besides if it makes you feel better there is a consequence."

"Oh really, and what would that be?" Piper crossed her arms waiting to hear this.

"Well, now I know what I'm getting right? But just because I know, doesn't mean I get it right now. Its kinda the whole look but don't touch thing."

"Uh-huh."

"And you found me so you're being mad at me is kind of a consequence too."

Piper shook her hand unable to stay mad. "Phoebe, that's not what I meant."

"I know." Phoebe smiled slightly, trying to pull off the innocent face she was so good at. "But, um, could we maybe keep this between you and me. I mean, I really don't want Cole to know because he tried really hard and he doesn't want me to know."

"Phoebe, I can't believe you would do that to him."

"It doesn't matter."

"Phoebe!"

"Well, it doesn't. He must have known this would drive me crazy and done something with his gift."

"What do you mean? I thought you got under there to get Cole's gift to you in the first place."

"I did, but when I touched it all I was a note that said, 'Nice try.' on it."

Piper couldn't help it and started laughing. "He knows you too well."

Phoebe smiled and nodded. "Yeah, but this is driving me crazy!"

"Well, the first Christmas together is always the hardest. Plus, having a guy that's supernatural makes you wonder what they might get you for Christmas. They're not really used to the whole Christmas shopping tradition thing."

"Well, Cole's not a demon anymore, but I doubt he ever celebrated Christmas when he was one."

"Yeah, probably not a big demon holiday."

"Definitely not." Phoebe agreed.

"So, you say Paige has really good taste?"
