Sookie had been in the kitchen of the Dragonfly working on a test wedding cake for hours. She didn't really cater anymore, but the couple had asked and they were paying BIG. So Sookie couldn't say no. And now she needed the cake to be perfect because she didn't want to lose the couple and since they were paying so much for it, she didn't want them to feel ripped off. And she also rambled on in one of her twisted, paranoid Sookie monologues about how not having just the right wedding cake could ruin a marriage and doom the couple for life or something.
So now Sookie was working on her second version of the test cake. But she had gone through 4 huge bowls of batter for this one alone, and this was about her 7th try on it. And Lorelai was there too. Sookie had forced her to stay in case she needed help, and she also had to be her second opinion. They'd been there for ten hours, it was 1 AM, and so far the only help Sookie'd needed from Lorelai was getting the frosting can open.
Lorelai sat at the counter of the kitchen with her head being propped up by her hand. Her eyes were constantly drooping. Sookie had moved on to obsessing over the light blue roses and the little marzipan pearls.
"Sookie! Two in the morning! Come on!" Lorelai shouted.
"Aah! Don't startle me like that! I almost messed up a rose!" Sookie shrieked.
"Sookie, chill," She demanded. "As your boss I am demanding you to chill out!"
Sookie ignored this and started obsessing over the next obsolete detail.
"What do I name the bride and groom figures?" She asked, panicked.
"Why don't you just use the same of the couple?" Lorelai suggested wearily.
"No, that'd be too cliché, and I always name my figures. But using the name of the actual couple is so boring and unproductive," Sookie ranted, but not as good as Luke does.
"Um, Jack and Diane? Noah and Allie? Mr. and Mrs. Claus? Homer and Marge? Spic and Span…" She suggested tiredly, her eyes blinking.
Sookie rolled her eyes and ignored her suggestions. Now Lorelai was half asleep and her head was drooping onto the counter.
"Lucy and Frank? Steve and Jenny? Elizabeth and Dave? Come on! Help!" She pleaded, but got no response.
"Richard and Emily?" She smirked.
Lorelai made a weak gesture that would be considered shaking her head.
"No," She replied, still half asleep and almost impossible to understand, "Luke and Lorelai."
Sookie smiled and shook her head. Typical. The only time Lorelai would admit it was while she was sleeping and delirious. She still had to decide whether or not she wanted to refresh Lorelai's memory tomorrow…
Author's Note- Hope you liked it! Just a cute little one-shot. I'm doing a lot of these lately, since I just started school recently and don't have a lot of time to commit myself to a long-time fic with multiple chapters.
