A/N: So, I haven't published anything in awhile, being so busy. If you want an update on my writing activity, read the end author's note. Otherwise, enjoy this random story!

Skydiving

"So, what do I have to do again?" the boy asked loudly over the roar of the engine.

Trevor hesitated a moment before answering. The kid, who he'd never seen before, had come up to him a few hours ago, asking if he could go skydiving. First off, he was a kid! Second, he seemed to have absolutely no knowledge of how the modern world worked. Trevor had barely believed him when he'd asked what an airplane was. Thirdly, he was dressed weird, and had a huge wooden staff with him, at least six and a half feet long, that he insisted on keeping with him the whole time.

Why am I even doing this? "You take one o' these here packs, strap it on nice an' tight, an' then you jump outta the plane. While yer fallin' you pull this cord, an' the parachute comes out so ya don't splatter yer guts all over the countryside."

"But why do I need a… parachute?" the boy asked, stumbling over the word as if it was unfamiliar. "It's not all that dangerous to jump down."

Trevor stared at the boy incredulously. "Are you some kinda masochist, kid? Or are ya just plain stupid?" He held up the pack, shaking it pointedly. "This here parachute is the only thing tha' keeps ya from hittin' the ground at full tilt! It opens, see, and fills up with air to slow yer fall."

"Maybe this skydiving wasn't as new and fun as I thought it'd be…" the boy muttered to himself.

"Then why on Earth are ya here?" Trevor exclaimed.

"You're right," he replied, grinning. "I'd much rather be someplace else." And with that, the boy leaped off the side of the plane without a pack, keeping a tight hold on his gigantic staff.

Trevor stared for a while, downright stunned. He had just witnessed a young boy willingly jump out of an airplane thousands of feet in the air without a parachute. Either he really wanted to die, or his staff was some kind of flying broomstick in disguise.

Suddenly, a flash of orange, yellow, and brown passed by the airplane, flying upwards. "What the heck was that?" Trevor wondered, walking to the opening in the side of the airplane. But before he could stick his head out to look around, something flew past it, blocking him. He recognized the boy, holding his staff above his head – though now it was a glider of some sort – and flying side by side with the airplane.

The boy turned his head and gave Trevor a grin, saying, "This beats your way by a mile!" Then, he swerved up and turned around, and flew downwards.

Trevor couldn't believe it. The boy had a glider with him! That's why he hadn't been scared to jump off. He chuckled at how surprisingly simple that solution was.

As he thought about seeing that young boy's face flying alongside the airplane, a realization suddenly hit him: while the boy was flying on his glider, not only was he flying in all directions including up, and not slowing down, but he had been matching the speed of the airplane.

He gaped openly as the boy flew by the other side of the plane. "Magic," he said in awe. He then shook his head. "No one back home'll ever believe this…"

A/N: Thanks for reading, please review!

Okay, so right now my current works in progress include two original novels and a Harry Potter/Yugioh crossover. Sorry to any fans of my other stories, but they have been on the back burner for a long time and aren't coming off any time soon. Someday, but not now. Hopefully I'll have a draft of the HPYGO done eventually so I can edit and upload it. :)
