Unfounded Regrets

We've been fighting one another for days. It's not like I want to, he's just impossible sometimes. It is only because I care for him I don't give him the 'I am the medical officer' speech. We bonded earlier in the week, in a fit of passion, and in a most drunken way. Considering the amount of High-grade we had consumed I'm shocked we didn't break anything.

Ironhide hasn't say two words to me since that time.

I sat at my desk sifting through data pads. Looking down at my reports and making checks. I always double check things before sending them along to Optimus. The door to the med bay chimed. I stood and made my way out of my office and looked out to see Ironhide sitting on one of my med tables.

"What've you done to yourself?" I asked with a sigh walking out, I looked down at his knee. "Your knee assembly is torn almost broke an energon line." I shook my head. "Scoot back on the bed let me get some things."

"Ratchet." He grabbed my hand before I could move away. "About the other day."

I waved my hand "We don't have to talk about it." I had already settled the war within myself, I had come to the conclusion that he didn't want to talk to me anymore.

"I am ready to talk about it now." He said sternly to me. I turned and folded my arms across my chest.

"Well would you like to talk first and get fixed later?" I asked.

"Yes." He grunted. I shook my head stood. "Just listen to me."

"Well ..what do you have to say?"

"I apologize for not speaking to you." He said quietly not diverting his optics from mine. "I've been thinking it over."

"And?" I shifted on my feet. "What conclusions have you come to?"

"I am not sorry and I do not regret what happened between us." I thought my optics were deceiving me. I turned and grabbed a small tool off of my work table and moved back over to him. He scooted back on the table and I started to reconnect the torn lines. He placed a hand over mine and I looked up at him with a serious look. "Say something."

"Well we can't do anything like that ever again if you knee stays in this condition." I said with a small smile "So sit still, I can't have you falling all over the place." I smirked and turned back to his leg "Bleed out all your energon."'

Ironhide smiled, nothing more. I felt him put his hand behind my neck and I just continued to work. "What would I do without you?" He asked quietly.

"Most likely blow yourself up." I said with the shake of my head. This caused him to laugh.

"I think you might be right." He slid his arm from my neck to my shoulder assembly.

"I need a few more things." I said quietly moving back to my table. "How did you do this?" I asked returning with a piece of replacement hose for the line he tore.

"I was thinking it over, you and I, and I pushed my knee into the wall of my quarters." I looked up at him and crossed my arms. I gave him a sideways look "OK, so I hit my knee on the wall in frustration."

"And you almost tore every line; I surprised you walked in here." I said.

"Me too." He said low and quietly. I reached up and took his hand and nodded. We remained quiet as I continued my work.

I didn't know what would become of us, but we were both in our right minds, and now we were both accepting of what we had started.
