How Many Stars Are In The Sky?
Dis:: Of all the silver mornings I have seen, Inu-Yasha has never belonged to me.
A/N:: Here is a small Aya/Kouga One-shot please enjoy. Note this somewhat AU but not really. Haha.
"Night Kouga," Ayame yawned in exhaustion.
"Good night Ayame, my love," Kouga replied as Ayame nestled against his chest.
"Mama, how many stars are in the sky?" the small red-head asked as she peered at the sky through forest green eyes. She squinted slightly as she began counting in her head. "There's lots right Mama? Too many to count."
The woman gently hugged her only child. "There is one star in the sky for each way I love you," she said softly as Ayame crawled onto her lap.
"There's too many Mama, no one can love anyone that much! You're being silly," six-year old Ayame said accusingly. She turned her eyes to the sky once more. There had to be hundreds. Hundreds of hundreds, and that was alot of stars in her opinion.
"There are not too many. I love you more than anything else in this whole wide world. One day Ayame, you will find someone you love that much, I promise."
"I love you that much Mama," the red-head replied with a toothy grin.
"That makes me happy. But you'll find someone else to love that much too, a man, or your child. Now go to sleep," the wolf said quietly.
Ayame opened her eyes slowly. It was still dark outside. Kouga was still asleep. What has woken her? That dream? It was a strange dream. She didn't even remember that night, but now it was becoming clearer. That was the night before her parents were killed. The last time she had ever spoken to her mother. "Kouga," She whispered.
Kouga awoke instantly. As a wolf-demon his hearing was better than most. "What's wrong Ayame? Why are you awake?" he asked sitting up quickly.
Ayame grabbed his hand and pulled him outside. "You see those stars? All of them?" she asked quietly.
"Yesss... you woke me up to look at some stars?" He asked unsurely as he ran a hand through his long hair. Ayame had always been different, but tonight she was being wierd.
Ayame wrapped her arms around him and whispered into his ear. "There is one star in the sky for each way I love you Kouga."
Kouga smiled softly as he kissed her cheek. "I love you more than that. There aren't enough stars for me to tell you how I love you Ayame."
Ayame sighed and leaned against his chest. This was not her happy ending though, she knew this happiness was only the begining.
