Fate That Brought Us Together
Chapter 1: Secrets Kept
"I'm sorry Nikki we have no more rooms available." Nurse Joy said. "Thanks anyway." I said the walked out of the pokemon center. I sighed then looked down at Buneary and said, "so where are we going to stay now."
"You could stay with me." a strange voice said.
I turned around to see a boy who was slightly taller than me, with green hair and emerald eyes standing by a Roselia, "Hey I'm Drew." he said. "Hi I'm Nikki" I said, "and you don't mind?" "No its pretty quiet where I'm staying anyway." he said. "Okay then, thanks you're a life saver!" I said and he laughed, and we started walking through the streets of Eterna City.
"So you're a coordinator too?" I asked.
"Yeah is that a problem or something?" he said
"Well yeah considering the fact I'm staying with my rival for tomorrow's completion!" I said.
"You may be my rival, but you don't stand a chance against me" he said with a smirk then flipped his hair.
"Well aren't we the cocky one." I muttered.
"I'm not cocky, I'm the most humble person I know." he said sarcastically.
"Yeah well you must not know a lot of people." I mumbled and Buneary giggled.
"You should be nicer to people who are letting you stay with them." he said.
"Yeah well it wouldn't hurt you to be a little nicer yourself!" I said
"Hey I'm not the one who needed a place to stay" he said, then I realized he was right, I had nowhere else to go. "Well here we are." he said extending his arm out to the tall building in front of us. "Wow you stay here!" I said starring and the tall hotel. "Yeah just until I get ready to go to the next town" he said. "And you can afford that?" I asked.
"Yeah cant you?" he asked. "Uh what?" I said looking confused as ever. "Your mother is Cynthia, champion of the Elite four and your father is a famous pokemon researcher" he said.
Oh no.. I should have figured he would know that, now I gotta come up with an excuse. THINK NIKKI THINK!!
"Well, well, well you've done your research on me, and yes I can afford stuff like this I just prefer to stay in a pokemon center and save my money" I said mentally congratulating myself for thinking of such a good lie, then tried to change the subject, "so what else do you know about me?" "Well I know you're the pokemon soother" he said. "Good job" I said sarcastically, "but that's all you know about me huh?"
"Basically, why?" he asked.
"Because, mostly that's all people know me for" I said sadly.
"Well what else are you good for" he said with a smirk.
"YOU KNOW VERY WELL IM A COORDINATOR DREW!" I yelled.
"Oh really I didn't notice" he said sarcastically.
He is so full of himself, I'm surprised his head doesn't explode.
"And for your information, not only do I earn ribbons but badges too." I sad showing off my badge and ribbon case. "You've got to be kidding me, someone as lame as you cant be able to do both" he said. "OBVIOUSLY I CAN YOU JERK, I ALREADY HAVE THREE RIBBONS AND FIVE BADGES SO HA!" I screamed which made the people in the lobby turn and look at us. "Honestly Nikki I am impressed, I admitit you are remarkable" he said revealing a red rose. "Huh, oh thank you" I said smiling with a hint of red on my cheeks.
"Rose, Rosel, Roselia" ( see Drew isn't all bad)
I giggled then walked in the elevator with him, the whole time in the elevator I was unaware that I was starring at the rose. "Something wrong." he asked when he realized I didn't walk out. "Huh oh no, nothings wrong" I said stepping out. "Now my room only has one bed, so you can have it and I'll sleep on the floor" he said. "Nonsense, you may be a jerk, but you paid for the room before I even came along so you take it!" I said. "If that's the way you want it." he said opening the door. Soon as Buneary and Roselia were free they started chasing each other around the room. I sat on the bed and watched them, and soon Drew joined me. "So why do you save your money" he asked. Buneary who heard the question stopped running and looked toward us and I looked away.
"What's wrong?" he asked. "Nothing." I said clutching my knees to my chest. He noticed the sad expression on my face, and a nothing wasn't going to satisfy him., then it hit him, "Nikki are you in trouble?" he asked.
HOW IN THE NAME OF ALL POKEMON COULD HE FIGURE THAT OUT.
"Um you know what, maybe me staying here, with you, isn't such a good idea." I said picking up Buneary who already knew I was going to leave. "Wait!" he said grabbing me by the hand, turning me around and looking me in the eyes. "You are in trouble aren't you?" he asked. "NO, now I should really be going." I said. "Its not like you have anywhere else to go." he said looking me in the eyes again, "Nikki, are you being threatend?"
I turned away and a lonely tear rolled down my cheek, "oh you are!" he said. "I'm not supposed to tell" I said.
"Trust me" he said.
"WHY SHOULD I!" I yelled.
"Nikki calm down, I cant force you to trust me, but if your in trouble I would like to help." he said.
"I……I….don't know" I said.
He led me over to the bed, "tell me" he said. I looked him in the eyes and they seemed so genuine and it all came out, "They took my Dragonair, and their making me pay to get her back, and I'm not allowed to tell anyone" I cried. "Who did?" he asked. "I don't know, I was playing with Dragonair one day, and all of sudden I felt really sleepy, and when I woke up I found a note saying that they took her and I would have to pay 600,000 yen to get her back" I said. "They must have used sleep powder" he said. "Yeah I know, I was so stupid how could I let something like that happen." I said. "Your not stupid" he said trying to comfort me. "Maybe but who knows what else they might try and take from me." I said. "Why don't you travel with me?" he suggested.
"Rose, Roselia, Rosel" ( yeah why don't you travel with us Nikki)
"Really don't you think its going to get a little weird to travel with your rival" I said sarcastically. "Maybe I can help you try and get somewhat as good as me" he said flipping his hair, and I stuck out my tongue. "But thanks anyway" I said then yawned and leaned back, then fell asleep, unaware I was leaning on Drew. He smiled and placed a rose in my hair, "I'll let her sleep." he said softly before falling asleep himself. Later on that night when I woke up I saw that Drew was leaning on the headboard and I was leaning on him. I blushed then slowly tried to get up without waking him up but instead I woke up Buneary and Roselia.
"Buneary?" (Nikki?)
Buneary rubbed her eyes and so did Roselia. "Shhh go back to sleep" I said then notice something poking my ear. I put my hand to my head and pulled out a delicate red rose, I smiled and began to sing.

"So I get to hear the beautiful voice in person." Drew said stretching. "Oh Drew I didn't know you were awake" I said tossing the rose onto his lap, "thanks for everything by the way." "Don't mention it, you'll need all my help anyway" he said flicking his hair. "Honestly Drew, you cant stop being a jerk at 3 o'clock in the morning." I said
"Rosel, Roselia, Rose, Rosel" (he only does it because he likes you) she said still a little groggy.
"Is that so, Mr. Cocky has a crush on me." I said. "No, why would I have a crush on a lame girl like you, when I could choose from all my fans" he said with a smug smirk and a flip of his hair. I huffed, " because they get on your nerves, only care for how you look, and could care less about how much you care about pokemon" I said standing up. Drew was surprised that's exactly how he felt about his fans, "how did you know that?" he asked. "Because I have fans too" I said with a wink. "Really I cant see anyone liking you." he said flipping his hair. "Whatever Drew" I said sitting on the floor and taking a notebook from my bag. "What's that a diary or something?" he asked. "If you must know it's a song book, I'm opening the contest tomorrow." I said finding a blank page and began writing. "Can I hear it" he asked. "I didn't think you cared." I said raising an eyebrow, "but no you'll have to wait like everyone else." "Whatever" he said laying back down.
"Hey Drew what's your last name" I asked
" Hayden, yours?"
"Glazel" I said
"Hmm that sorta sounds like some kind of pokemon." he said
"Yeah" I said smiling, "what's your favorite color."
"Green, you"
"Red, favorite type of pokemon"
"Grass you"
"Love them all."
"Even ghost?" he asked
"Yeah even ghost" I said and before I knew it we were asking questions back and fourth.
"Favorite food?" I asked
"Dumplings yours" he said
"Sushi, favorite song?" I said
"Don't really listen to music, what about you" he said
"That lullaby I was singing earlier" I said
"What's you favorite flower?" he asked
"Rose you" I said
"Roses too" he said
"Oh I know what's your favorite dessert?" I asked
"Don't really have one" he said
"Well I like strawberry ice cream and chocolate cake." I said.
"Hmm why don't I get you some tomorrow" he said
"Really, that's actually nice." I said
" I can be nice you know" he said flipping his hair.
"So is your full name Drew or is it Andrew" I asked. "Andrew how did you know?" he said. "I used to have a friend named Andrew but he like being called Drew" I said. "Oh" he said, "he can I ask you something, you don't have to answer it but-" "Go ahead" I said giving a genuine smile. " Do honestly you trust me?" he asked. "Oh, well you can be a jerk but you seem like a pretty nice guy who's willing to help me out of this messed up situation I'm in so yeah I trust you" I said. "Ok, just wanted to know" he said. "Can I trust you?" I asked. "Hey I'm getting you ice cream tomorrow and I'm letting you stay with me and travel with me, yeah you can trust me." he said. "Awesome" I said hugging him, "well I'm tired so I'm going to get some more sleep." I made myself comfortable on the floor, "are you sure I wasn't more comfortable" he said, I wasn't looking at him but I could tell he was smirking. "Oh grow up Drew!" I said hitting him with my pillow. "Just asking" he said fixing his hair. I sighed, "Goodnight Drew." I said closing my eyes. "Goodnight……Nikki" he said twirling the rose in his hand.
