Little
child, be not afraid
The rain pounds harsh against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger
There is no danger
I am here
tonight
Little child
Be not afraid
Though thunder
explodes
And lightning flash
Illuminates your tearstained
face
I am here tonight
And someday you'll know
That
nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on
rivers and land
And forests and sand
Makes the beautiful
world that you see
In the morning
Little child
Be not
afraid
The storm clouds mask your beloved moon
And its
candlelight beams
Still keep pleasant dreams
I am here
tonight
Little child
Be not afraid
The wind makes
creatures of our trees
And the branches to hands
They're not
real, understand
And I am here tonight
And someday you'll
know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forest and sand
Makes the
beautiful world that you see
In the morning
For you know,
once even I
Was a little child
And I was afraid
But a
gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears
Trade sweet
sleep for fears
And to give a kiss goodnight
Well, now I
am grown
And these days have shown
Rain's a part of how life
goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'til your frightened eyes do close
And I hope that you'll
know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forests and sand
Makes the
beautiful world that you see
In the morning
Everything's
fine in the morning
The rain will be gone in the morning
But
I'll still be here in the morning
Marian smiled as Katie closed her eyes. Her little 2 year old daughter was the perfect combination of her husband, Robin and her. Brown hair, with crystal blue eyes and Robin smugness even at the age of 2. She turned off the lights and went to her own room. She sighed as she looked at the empty bed, Robin was working late again. Both Robin and Marian worked as detectives, Marian specializing in arsonist attacks. When Katherine had come along, Marian had taken time off to raise her daughter. Marian crawled into bed and shut her eyes.
Robin looked around the office, he closed up his briefcase and turned off the lights. He was trying to save more money to take Marian and Katie on a well deserved cruise. Just as he exited the office his work phone rang.
"Detective Locksley"
"Robin, you need to get down to your house now!"
"Much, what's going on?"
Robin quickly started his car and drove home while much filled him in. As he turned in he saw flames covering his house. He quickly got out of the car and ran, only to be stopped by the firefighters.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't go in"
"MY WIFE" Robin yelled. The inspector pointed to the ground not to far from him where a person was wrapped in blankets. Robin ran and scooped Marian up, making sure she was ok, before kissing her.
"Robin, they haven't found Katie yet" Marian cried into his embrace. Robin looked up in horror; his baby girl was still in there. They watched in silent tears as the flames finally were extinguished. Then the final blow came, their baby girl had not been found.
Robin held his wife as they both cried.
"KATIE"
Marian woke up screaming. The nightmares had started again. She cried silently, she had failed as a mother, she hadn't been able to protect her baby. Marian looked at the clock, she had to get up in 5 minutes anyway.
