The following Drabble is a letter to John Howlett from his mother Itsu. John Howlett is more Commonly known as Daken Howlett.
My dear little John,
By the time you are able to read this I'm sure you have become a strong, handsome young man, who is as brave, honorable and kind as his father.
I want you to know, my dearest child, that no matter what happens I will love you and your father forever. I hold no illusions as to what you and he are, and I want you to know that I am proud of you because you are different.
Others in this country will not understand you, they may call you names and try to take you down. But I know, my dear John. That you are stronger then this, you are your fathers son, I can already tell.
Every night your father and I lay beside one another, feeling you kick and become stronger, you are our pride and Joy little one, and we love you with all of our hearts.
What you need to understand John, is that your father has many enemies that would hurt us and therefore he will leave us once you are born. It breaks his heart to do so, for he loves you, so very much, but he has no choice. The winter Soldier is on our heels John, and I fear he means to kill you.
It is for this reason that I have decided to put you up for adoption, it will be safer this way, for all of us, but especially for you.
Your safety is all that matters, my dearest child. And I need you to know, that I love you, that your father loves you. And that we are so extremely proud of the man you have become today.
It is my greatest hope that you have found a wonderful woman and have started a family of your own. Protect them John, and remember, a parents love is the strongest kind of love we know on our planet. Treasure it my son.
