Dinner Is Served
'I can't believe it. I'm going on a date…with Korra. An actual date! We've been to the beach before, even got something to eat together, but this was a real date! Just the two of us! This is going to be great! I hope it's not awkward. Why would it be? Nothing's changed. Has it?'
It had been three days since Mako and Korra had had their first kiss and they both couldn't stop thinking about it. Mako was having doubts. 'Did he do it right? Was there anything to do right?' Korra, on the other hand, wondered if Mako would make the next move. Nothing too serious…maybe he could go in to kiss her? Put his arm around her? Their date was tonight and Mako was picking Korra up at 7pm.
The doorbell rang and Korra came rushing to the door, wearing a long and emerald green dress to match her eyes.
"Hey!" She said, swinging the door open in excitement.
"Hey, you ready?" He didn't know if it was the nerves of the date or the moonlight hit her eyes, but his heart began racing at the very sight of her.
"You look….wow"
"Thanks" Korra giggled "You don't look half bad yourself. So where are we going tonight?"
"I've cooked us a meal, back at mine. I hope that's okay? I don't really have much money to take you out to a fancy restaurant" said Mako, in quite an embarrassed and ashamed tone.
"Mako…I'm not going out with you because I want to go to fancy restaurants. I'm going out with you because I love you. We could eat a burger on the corner of the street for all I care!
"Well, it's a little more romantic than that.
As Korra was about to open the door to Mako's flat, he stopped her and told her to close her eyes.
"Okay, when I count to three, you can open them… One. Two. Three!
She opened her eyes to find a beautiful candle lit room, with a small table in the middle. Rose petals were scattered all around the room and a single rose sat in a vase on the table.
"Wow Mako, its beautiful" She gasped, before kissing him and then taking a seat.
After dinner they went and laid on the balcony, watching the moon push the ocean too and fro. Mako put his arm around Korra and pulled her closer. She couldn't believe it. It was the first time he'd been able to summon the courage to do anything like that.
"Feeling brave tonight?" She whispered.
"What can I say? I have to make a move some time" He smirked, looking rather pleased with himself. After about an hour of them both cuddling, watching the peaceful tide come in and out, Korra was asleep.
"I love you, Korra" Mako whispered, before kissing her head and falling asleep, holding her tight.
The next morning, Korra woke up to find Mako already cooking breakfast.
"Good morning sleepy head!" He said, putting his arms around her and kissing her.
"Hey, what're you making?
"Just bacon, want some?"
"Sorry, I've got to get going." She said putting her arms around his waist. "But I really enjoyed last night, I hope we can do it again some time."
"I'd love that, is Tuesday good for you?" A huge smile appeared on Mako's face.
"It's a date!" She said, kissing him again on the lips before walking out the door.
'Wow, last night really was great. I love being with Korra. She makes me feel like the happiest guy in the world. Should I buy her something? Or is it too soon? I don't know. I wish I had some sort of experience with relationships. I feel like I'm doing it all wrong. She wouldn't have said yes to next Tuesday if I wasn't doing it right though, would she?'
