John faced the scarred brown Akita with determination. His overconfidence had lead him to believe that he could overpower anyone. He challenged the Leader with a grin. "Come down here, Leader! And fight!"
The Leader stared down at John with a stern look. He stood to his paws. For a millisecond, it was as if he was going to walk away from the fight. But Riki wasn't that type of dog.
As soon as John charged, Riki simply jumped high into the air, almost disappearing. John paused and looked around, smirking. "Coward."
"I am no coward, John," Riki's voice came as a blast of wind. There was a blur of movement and soon John was on his back in less than a blink of an eye. The Shepherd rolled over and stood to his paws, ready to attack.
The Akita came up to him with a calm determination. John recklessly made a charge, only to have Riki dodge the blow and grab his tail with his teeth. The Leader threw John towards a boulder, but it backfired. John planted his feet on the boulder and bounced off, making his fangs aim for Riki's throat. Riki ducked until he was sure that John would leap over him. Then, he struck. Fangs dug themsleves into John's chest, lifting him up high into the air and smashing him down into the ground. John glared and attempted to stand, but Riki pinned the Shepherd down with a paw.
"Control yourself, John," Riki told him calmly.
John snarled, kicking Riki off of him. As soon as John got up, he saw that the Leader landed skillfully on his paws. He faced John's angered glare, speaking, "You're too reckless. Too arrogant. You'll lose within in an instant."
John let out an enraged war cry, grabbing Riki's left foreleg and swinging him up and over him. The ground came rushing up to meet Riki. However, the Leader had different ideas. He latched his fangs into John's back, digging them deep into his skin.
John bucked and kicked like a bronco, but to no avail. Riki's fangs were in deep. John realized how much power such a male could have. So he tried a different technique. He slammed Riki's body into trees, hoping to make the Akita lose grip. Yet even that seemed to fail.
John was irritated. Why wouldn't this bastard go down? If he had been any other dog, it would have been easy. But this male- The Leader- He was something else.
The Shepherd lifted himself onto his back legs and attempted to take the Leader down in one last blow. Riki, soon realizing the situation and John's motive, released his back and rolled out from underneath him. John, witnessing what the Leader had just done, forced himself over on his paws as fast as he could. He glanced up only to see that the Leader was nowhere in sight.
"Come out, old man!" John challenged.
It was then that Riki answered that call. He came like a bullet and, with the same amount of force, slammed himself into John, knocking him over on his back and pinning him down with his fangs. "It was like I told you, John," Riki stated through a mouthful of skin. "You're too arrogant. You need to think first before you start boasting about your power."
John stared up at the sky. "I . . . I can't believe it," he whispered. "I lost."
Riki released his hold on John's skin and stepped off of him. "You're a great warrior, John," he said to the Shepherd.
John looked at him with confusion. "Really?"
Riki smiled. "Although you are arrogant, you are extremely loyal and are willing to go through great lengths to prove your strength. You are persistant and very strong willed. I would like for you to aid us with the attack against Akakabuto."
John gaped. "Are you serious?"
The scarred Leader nodded. "I would like for you to become a member of my pack."
John rolled over and climbed to his paws, smiling at the Leader. Although most of his were filled with cockiness and arrogance, this one was filled with genuine gratitude. "I'm honored to fight for you, Leader." John said as he bowed his head.
How was it? :) Pretty good?
