Eren grits his teeth hard, green eyes flaring with rage. While he wanted to throw himself onto coffin, he kept himself standing straight and offering up his heart in salute to his fellow soldier.
Saying goodbye to them was never an easy thing, no matter how common death was. It hurt. It caused them pain that only they knew.
Eren refused to cry, but holding it back was making his throat ache and behind his eyes to throb. The coffin of his dear friend passed by and another coffin came into view, he maintained his salute firmly for this one as well, even if he did not know them personally.
Funerals of the soldiers were rare because of many died at once they normally had to be threw into the fire to stop the spread of plagues. So only the bravest who gotten their bodies back were given this kind of honour.
It was over.
Eren felt drained.
Still he would not cry, not until it was out of the sight of others.
Corporal Eren Jaeger raises his head and marched forward, his green eyes become a dull yet hard as they narrowed dangerously, then he freed his face of any and all emotion.
Now that he was Corporal he was going to make sure his Corporal's standards were upheld; starting with making the new cadets clean that dirty headquarters until it shone bright like a diamond.
