Finish What We've Started, Dear Brother

(America's Poem to Britain)

My gun is pointed at his face,

My hands are shaking, my head is spinning…

There's no backing out now.

I won't let my people suffer no more.

I am going to finish what I have started.

He looks weak and tired there on the groung…

But his eyes speak a whole other story.

He's trying to be strong;

Trying to deny defeat…

Even though he is outnumbered in men

And in weapons.

I am going to finish what I have started.

My men stand behind me,

Breathing heavy and uneven.

We've been fighting for days, weeks, months…

I won't let them go home beaten and scarred.

I am going to finish what I have started.

As I stare down at this man on the ground,

I feel a pang in my chest.

This man is the one who raised me…

He loved me, fed me, and taught me right from wrong…

He loved me;

Made me the hero I am today!

I shake the feelings for this man away.

I am going to finish what he has started.

I swallow hard and inhale a shaky breath.

"All I wanted was my freedom,"

I tell him as he stands.

He looks me in the eye and smiles ever so slightly,

Tears evident in his eyes.

"Then finish what we've started, dear brother."

A/N: I actually wrote this for an English assignment :P We had to pick a historic event, then research it, and then we had to write a poem about it…I just watched Hetalia: Axis Powers again. xD Hopefully I get a good mark!
