Chapter 1- Good Morning Starshine
_____________________________

"Um Frankie, would you mind getting your foot off my seat?"

Christopher 'Chris' Jones relaxed his tight grip on the steering wheel as his friend struggled to find a comfortable sitting position in the backseat of the car.

As they drove down the dusty road, Chris tried to contain the excitement that he was feeling.

He was going to Woodstock!

His first ever road trip. He was out on his own, with no laws or limits, and he was loving it. He had finally escaped his straitlaced Father, and more importantly was going to to party with people who all wanted peace and love like he did!

His Father, ever the traditionalist, was going to send Chris off to Vietnam, but the 19 year-old had finally gathered all his strength, said no to his Father for the first time and announced that he was going to Woodstock to celebrate peace and love. The reaction was less than pleasant, but all the more worth it when he'd finally gotten out on the road.

It had been his friends' idea, and being the lead singer and sitar player in their band Bohemian Storm, he did not want to miss out on this. Woodstock......what was shaping up to be the greatest music festival of his time, and a chance at finding fame.

Chris looked back at the interesting assortment in the back of the car. In his band, there was himself and three others. There was Frank 'Frankie' Satierson, his guitarist, who was currently scrawling music for a new song that Chris was writing. Quiet and retiring, with dark, downcast blue eyes and sporting a shaved head, he was known as 'Satie' among his friends, for his love of the French composer and classical music.

Snoring next to Satie was Ricky 'Rico' Ramirez, the drummer in his band. Known in high school for his great dancing and partying all night, it was not unusual for Rico to drop off at any moment, who spent most, if not all of his night partying.

Also sleeping (though more quietly), was Uncle Jim, Chris' bass player. He was not really Chris' Uncle, but actually his chemistry teacher in High school, who enjoyed blowing stuff up. Chris still grinned when he thought of the time that he'd thrown a chunk of pure sodium into a creek down by the side of the school and the numerous sparks and mini-fireworks that'd resulted.

Next to Chris in the passenger seat was Tom Lane, his best friend. While not part of the band, Chris had wanted Tom to be there. Tom was an artist, and like Rico, he enjoyed the party scene. The two had been friends ever since the beginning of elementary school, and Chris could simply not envisage attending THE event of his life without Tom by his side.

"Are we there yet?" whined Frankie from the backseat. "I wanna do some jammin'..."

"Soon, soon. I'll put the radio on," Chris replied, switching it on and fumbling with the knob, trying to find a station.

Eventually, a familiar sound got Chris' attention and he began to sing.

"Good morning Starshine," he sang softly. "the Earth says hello.....you twinkle up above, we twinkle below."

This was greeted with a chorus of groans.

"Never going to get into the REAL rock are you Chris?" grumbled Jim, wiping sleep from his eyes and poking around for his copy of Rolling Stone.

Chris ignored them and continued singing, thinking of what was awaiting him.

"My love and me as we sing.....our early morning singing-song....."

Chris and Tom than bopped along together, with Tom providing silly actions to go with the song.

"So, how famous do you think we'll be, Chris?" asked Frankie, hanging over Chris' seat.

"Oh, we'll be heroes." replied Chris, grinning in the rear view mirror at his friend.

"Forever and ever?"

"Forever and ever." Chris said and suddenly the dream seemed to be a reality.

How little he knew, Woodstock '69 would be memorable to Chris.

For so many reasons.

End of Chapter

Song/s used:

Good Morning Starshine- (not sure who wrote this, but the version I heard was performed by Donovan)
Line from 'Heroes' (David Bowie) used.

A/N: The inspiration for this came from the movie 'The Dish' which was about the 1969 Moon-landing. It was the soundtrack more than anything, as the swingin' 60's is one of the most memorable decades, and in so many ways. It being a Bohemian era, of course it only stands to reason that our favourite film should be re-written in this time, doesn't it? Anyway, don't know when the next chapter will be up. Hopefully in a few weeks. In the meantime, reviews would be nice. :-)
