A/N: Cartwills! After The Tony's. Not sure how long but it's been awhile, obviously.
The Key:

Derek was starting to do it more and more recently.
When he didn't think someone was looking, he'd casually burst out into song as if it was a completely normal thing. All though, considering he was in Broadway, he could get away it. He just didn't like getting caught because he didn't think himself much of a singer.
He wasn't at work right now. Instead, it was early morning and he was currently fixing coffee. He didn't think he had much of an audience because Karen hadn't made her presence known yet.
Karen stopped short before entering her way into the kitchen. It wasn't the radio that woke her up. When she turned and wasn't able to take hold of Derek, it caused her jolt up but her nerves calmed when she heard his familiar voice bolting out a Queen's song in the kitchen. She smiled, pushed herself out of bed. She didn't want to miss the show.
Her knees were going weak. Derek had this effect on her. She gave him those googily eyes of hers. She was sure that she'd turn into a pile goop. It was actually her laugh that caught him by surprise.
Derek jumped slightly but smiled only to continue as he gave a killer air guitar performance. He closed the gap between them so he could go behind her so he could take her into his arms. Karen smiled, sighed, melted into him as she often did. She swayed with him to the music.
He pressed his face gently against hers because he hadn't shaved yet and the morning stubble was there to greet her, not that she minded it all. She preferred him scruffy.
This was it, Derek thought. He'd thought of a million ways to ask but in this moment, he found the perfect way to get the girl he truly loved to move in with him. He sang softly into her ear:
I can't get used to, living without, living without,
Living without you by my side
I don't want to live alone, hey…
Karen stopped causing them both to cease with the song playing on. "Is this your way of asking me to move in with you?"
Derek nodded. "Yes, I've been trying to ask for awhile, just never found the right time or way to do that up until now."
The silence that came between them seemed endless, and Derek had to catch his breath, fearing that she might reject him. It wouldn't be the first time.
It seemed like a dream.
Ivy was going to kill her but she could get over it. Derek may be the father of her child, however, she was the woman he loved and was willing to settle down for her. How could she say no to him?
She gave him his answer.
Karen would be moved in within the week.
Derek was happy. This was the easy part though he was a nervous wreck up until now. The hard part was going to be getting down on one knee and asking Karen to marry him. It may be a difficult challenge. He was willing to accept it with open arms and balls of steal.
