A/N: This one was unplanned, but I've been getting into Saffy or Batsu, or whatever you wanna call it? Originally I was trying to limit it to 200 words, but I went slightly overboard. Anyway, this is my first one-shot for this couple, so please review and let me know if it's any good!

Real Love

Buffy loved Satsu. She really did. She couldn't believe how close she'd been to allowing her to stay in Japan. They had fought about it; yelling had ensued. But eventually, Satsu had given in, agreed to give their relationship another chance.

It had been nearly four years since Buffy and Satsu had fallen in love. Life had calmed down for them quite a bit. They were both still active Slayers, though the two had relocated to Cleveland when Faith had moved to San Francisco.

It was late at night, and Satsu had gone out for a quick patrol. Buffy had excused herself, saying that she was going to try to make dinner. The couple had settled into a kind of domestic bliss. They had started doing things normal people did, instead of focusing solely on the slaying.

But Buffy, always easily distracted, had completely forgotten about the roast chicken she had put in the oven. And, by the time she remembered, the chicken was already badly burned. It wasn't beyond edibility, but it was somewhat blackened.

When Satsu got home, she found Buffy sitting at the kitchen table, the burnt roast chicken in front of her. Her face was buried in her hands, and Satsu heard her quiet sobs.

"Buffy? What's wrong?" Satsu asked softly. She sat down at the table, in the chair to Buffy's left.

Buffy took her hands away from her face and slammed them on the table, turning her tear-stained eyes on her younger lover.

"I burnt the chicken. Again!"

"Baby, it's no big deal," Satsu said, putting a hand on Buffy's forearm.

"It's the third time I've burned a damn chicken, Satsu!" Buffy protested. "I wanted us to have a nice, home-cooked dinner together." Even more tears streamed down her cheeks and neck.

Satsu smiled. "C'mere." Buffy sniffled and got up to sit on her lover's lap. "I don't care about dinner, baby. It's not a big deal to me. Trust me, I'm not with you for your cooking skills."

Buffy chuckled a bit through her tears. "Gee, thanks." They shared a smile. Satsu leaned in and kissed Buffy softly. "Don't think that makes it all better," Buffy whispered.

"I don't think it. I know it." Satsu smirked and kissed Buffy again. "I love you."

"I love you too," Buffy murmured. "Wanna...take this upstairs?"

"Yeah," Satsu said. "Do you want me to eat the chicken first?" She eyed the burnt poultry warily, clearly not wanting to actually eat it. But Buffy knew that Satsu would eat it to make her happy if she had to.

"No, that's okay. Let's go upstairs and get busy," Buffy purred. Satsu grinned and stood up, carrying Buffy bridal style out of the kitchen. They had a long night ahead of them.

The End.
