"Happy Birthday Meora!" her mom, dad, and brother screamed in her face as she woke up. Meora glanced at the clock: 8: 15 a.m. She slightly opened her eyes and right there was a giant cake with exactly 15 flaming candles. "Mom, you know I don't eat cake." was all Meora could manage to mumble. "Well, I was thinking today would be an exception." her mom said. "Mother please since its my birthday I recommend letting the birthday girl go back to sleep" Meora was not a morning person. "Well fine then, be that way grumpy pants." Austin, her extremely annoying younger brother, said.

After about 2 and a half more hours of sleep, Meora finally got up and put on some lounging clothes and threw her messy blond hair into a ponytail. She trudged down the stairs to see everyone including her family that lived in California on the couch. Meora let out a tiny sigh. Of course she didn't want anybody to see her current state. So she quietly tiptoed past the couch of waiting people but without a doubt she was found out. All heads turned in unison. "Meora," they all shouted. In one swift movement all of her family was of the couch coming at her like a heard of angry cows. Aunts, uncles, and cousins were all around her and it was overwhelming. What was the big deal anyway she was only turning 15. Her dad's voice cut through all the noise. "Okay, so for our baby girl's birthday we've planned a party. We have invited her whole grade and all her neighbor hood friends" he said expecting a huge shock out of Meora.

Quick, she needed a way out of this. Her first thought was the phone, faintly in the background she could hear it ringing. "Thanks for coming ,but I'll be right back my phone is ringing." Meora flashed a huge smile then fled to her bedroom. This was a great temporary distraction. She picked up her cell phone and saw she had two new messages. The first one was just a happy birthday text from her friend Paige. The second one was pretty bizarre. It was from a blocked number and it read:

if the method of the dead is what you seek

then the creatures to you aren't real

will be the massacre of what you thought you were

Delete. All these chain emails and text she was getting lately was really annoying. Time to think of the positive. Thus, Meora took a 2 minute shower and washed her hair and put on a expensive tank top and designer jeans. Her hair was super wavy right now but all she cared about right now was all the people she didn't want to ever let down. Why did everything have to so good on me, Meora thought. It was true whether it was too small or to big you could never tell. She had that kind of hourglass figure that could stop any football player mid tackle.

She went down the hall but a strange pain in her back kept her from moving her whole upper body. She disregarded it at first but the pain increased.
