The Legend of Zelda: Song of The White Wolf
Chapter 1: The Storm
Link dangled his legs over the low cobblestone wall near Lon Lon Ranch and sighed, the setting sun casting eerie shadows along his face.
He had felt so empty, so bored after his battle with Ganondorf. He no longer had that sense of adventure, of purpose that he once thrived upon. All of that seemed so long ago now, although it had only been a few years. Epona stepped lightly beside him and gently nibbled the shoulder of his green tunic.
Dark storm clouds billowed in the night sky above Kokori forest. Link' s crystal blue eyes glistened with a faint curiosity as he watched the clouds fill the sky.
Strange, he thought, there hasn't been a storm like this in Hyrule for a long time.
A sudden flash of lightning caused Epone to rear, her front legs flailing frantically in the air, coming dangerously close to Link's head. The horse turned and bolted deep into Hyrule field in an all out panic-stricken run. Link slid off the stone wall, shifting his shield into place and unsheathing his sword. He watched carefully as the storm clouds continued to grow, drawing ever nearer to Hyrule castle.
Another flash of lightning illuminated the sky and the wind started to pick up, howling with all the ferocity of a wild animal. Link shuddered, his eyes falling upon the ghostly form of a snow-white wolf that had appeared suddenly on the hill in front of him. The wolf's deep brown eyes studied him for a brief instant, the rushing winds blowing tufts of its pure white fur. A frigid chill traveled through Link's body as the wolf lifted its muzzle to the air and emitted a single, mournful note that pierced the night sky. Another flash of lightning and the wolf was gone, its soul-wrenching cry echoing in Link's ears.
The clouds gathered around Hyrule castle, a bolt of lightning slicing through an shingled roof in the market place. Instantly the entire house was ablaze, red orange flames licking the wooden walls as the inhabitants scrambled for safety, their clothes becoming drenched in the sudden down poor. Sword in hand, Link rushed towards the stricken village, a steady flow of rain drops pelting his back.
Above him, the clouds began to shift, melting together to form some sort of giant, nightmarish hand. The hand hovered above the castle, wisps of clouds snaking down around the building and emitting small bursts of lightning. Link gasped and quickened his pace, willing to give anything at that moment to be bored again. Slowly the massive hand closed its fingers, forming a fist that slammed ruthlessly through the castle. Countless amounts of dust and rubble rained down upon the forsaken market town.
Link's eyes froze wide in utter disbelief.
His heart pounded wildly in his chest as he approached the impressive pile of rubble that had once housed his beloved princess. The storm cleared suddenly, the cloud hand vanished. Somewhere in the distance birds began to chirp, as if mocking his horror. Link slumped to his knees, fighting back the hot tears that welled in his eyes. He dug his fingers into the ground and lowered his head, his entire body quivering.
