A/N: Merry Christmas, everyone! I thought I'd kick off the holiday season with a little bit of festive fluff. Hope you like it! And remember, r'n'r is the best Christmas present you could give me.

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Trek or anything related, more's the pity.

Hikaru Sulu smiled in disbelief as he looked around the quarters that he shared with Pavel Chekov.

"What do you think?" asked Pavel, looking up from where he was laying presents under an enormous Christmas tree in the corner.

"It's...incredibly festive," replied Hikaru, suppressing a laugh as his eyes took in the garlands of holly, and festoons of icicle lights which bedecked every inch of the room.

"You don't sound that enthusiastic," said Pavel, sounding disappointed as he stood up and turned toward Hikaru.

"No, really, I think you've done a great job," said Hikaru, feeling slightly bad. After all, Pavel had clearly put a lot of work into giving their quarters some Christmas cheer. "Christmas just...isn't my favorite holiday, I guess." Pavel pouted.

"But there's so much about it to love," he said, stepping closer to where Hikaru still stood by the door. "The presents...the food...the music..." By now he was standing right in front of Hikaru. "The mistletoe..." Hikaru was suddenly afraid to look up.

"You didn't," he breathed. Pavel was so close now that their noses were almost touching. Pavel winked at him.

"Oh yes I did," he answered, and with a grin he leaned in and put his lips against Hikaru's, bringing his arms up at the same time to wrap them around Hikaru's waist. Hikaru struggled for a moment, knowing that he had to report for Alpha shift in a few minutes, knowing that he didn't have time for this, knowing that he really shouldn't. But then animal instinct replaced logic and he leaned into the kiss, fisting his hands through Pavel's hair as his enthusiasm began to rival that of the young Russian navigator.

"Pavel..." he murmured as they broke apart. "I really have to go...I'm late for my shift." Pavel caught hold of his sleeve as he tried to leave.

"Nyet," he said softly. "I can't let you be alone on Christmas eve, Hikaru." He smiled playfully as he tugged Hikaru back into the room.

Hikaru willed himself to tear away from the Russian and report to the bridge, but he somehow found he could not. Perhaps it was the soft Christmas music playing in the background, or the twinkling of the icicle lights, or the soft, warm glow of the room. Or perhaps it was the way Pavel looked with his curls illuminated by the star on top of the Christmas tree, and the way his blue eyes shone as he looked into Hikaru's dark brown ones. Hikaru took a deep breath and mentally cursed himself for what he was about to do.

"Hikaru to bridge," he said into his communicator, blocking his nose as he spoke. "I can't report to Alpha shift, Captain. I've got the worst head cold, I'm sorry. Sulu out," he finished after he had received a reply. Pavel grinned at him as he once again drew him near. This time, Hikaru didn't even try to put up a fight.

"Hey, Hikaru," Pavel whispered sometime later as they lay entwined on the bed. "All I want for Christmas is you."
