A/N: The following quotes were borrowed from Elton John's musical Aida.

"It's easy." "I want nothing in the world but myself to protect me." "All I have to do is pretend I never new him on those very rare occasions when he steals into my heart." "Better to have lost him when the ties were barely binding." "All I ever wanted and I'm throwing it away." -Aida.

TIGGULAR, PRINCE OF THE VINKUS NOW CAPTAIN OF THE GUARDS.

This Friday, Prince Fiyero Tiggular stepped into the position, making the ever ongoing hunt for the Wicked Witch the Gale Force's top priority.

"It's easy," says Tiggular, "I'll find her. I'm willing to put full commitment into my new job and continuing the search. Don't worry, I'll find her."

Elphaba threw the paper away from her, letting it hit the ground. "The hell he will!" She chackled, "Good luck with that Prince Tiggular, Captain of the Guards."

The witch glanced down at the photograph of Fiyero on the floor. At first, she looked away, but her eyes slowly drifted back after only just a few moments.

She slowly knelt down and took the photograph into her hands. "What are you going to do with yourself?" Elphaba asked, not sure if that was directed towards herself or the picture. She gave a sad laugh and pressed her hand to the picture of the charming, young, prince. "I'm in love with the man out to kill me." There was a long silence, a draft tugged at her cloak, causing to shiver in her moment of vulnerability.

"No," she started. "No, I want nothing in the world but myself to protect me."

She didn't need him. She didn't need Fiyero or anyone else.

"It's easy as life," She laughed spitefully, knowing her life had never been (in any way) easy.. "It's easy, all I have to do is pretend I never knew him, on those very rare occasions when he steals into my heart." The wicked witch turned the photograph and article over, sliding it away from her, face down. "Better to have lost him when the ties were barely binding," she admitted, hoping to console herself.

"All I ever wanted and I'm throwing it away."

She stood up and drew her cloak even tighter around her before going to the window, taking her broom in hand. "No, but I don't want it. I can't want it anymore." She stepped on to the window sill , looking down at the ground so very far away.

"It's easy."

She threw herself into freefall. She almost let herself hit the ground, but her broomstick kicked in at the very last moment. She left the castle, allowing the wind from the open window to carry the photograph away.
