Day Forgotten
That morning everything sounded calm and quiet. She lay in bed listening to the silence around her not wanting to get out of bed. She had been dreading this day for months now along with a little bit of excitement now and again but she knew like every other year it would be forgotten.
Dragging herself out from the warmth of her bed she made her way to the window seat where she enjoyed watching the birds in the trees and the people on the street going about their daily tasks but today the view was much different.
The street was covered in a soft white blanket of snow. Footprints disappearing with every fresh new snowflake that softly landed onto the ground.
She sat lost in memories as the watched the snow fall onto the street below her. Some memories made her smile, she could hear her seven-year-old self laugh as she played in the snow with her sisters she wished it could be like that again but deep in her heart, she felt it never would. Wiping the tears from her face she slowly made her way downstairs knowing once again she would be met by silence.
There was no smell of pancakes cooking in the kitchen no loud voices or footsteps she knew once again she was alone , she couldn't go through another day of complete loneliness just wanting to crawl back into bed and sleep at least then she could live in her dreams where anything was possible she sometimes thought she could hear voices calling her name but knew it was all in her head.
Her heart ached for the people in her life that made her feel whole but knowing she would never feel their love again she told her self enough was enough and get ready for the day ahead.
Grabbing her car keys from the hook she was about to head out when she remembered the snow she wouldn't be able to drive with the amount of snow that had fallen and decided to walk to work. Wrapping herself up she braved the cold.
That was the last time she was seen walking to work.
