Secrets, Lies, and Love
By K. Skywalker
"Anakin, where were you? You've been gone for hours! Why didn't you call!" Amidala yelled at her husband of two years who had just walked in the door. " I was busy." He replied and he headed for the fresher and shut the door behind him, not giving her a glance. "Anakin, you could have called! I had a whole dinner planned for us, I have to tell you something very important and…"
Anakin opened the door and glared at her, his eyes seemed cloudy and almost evil. "I don't want to hear a thing from you, Ami!" he came towards her pushing her out of his way, wearing only a bath towel around his waist. "Palpatine told me about your little secret!" Amidala looked at her husband surprised, she had only told her handmaidens, she also thought Ani would be happy about the news. "How did he know?" she asked her self mainly.
"He saw you and Obi-Wan in the Gardens! That's how he knew! How could you do this to me." He just glared at her. Amidala just looked at him, confused. "Anakin, what are you talking about? What did the Chancellor tell you?" Amidala demanded. What is going on, she thought to herself.
"The truth, that you and Obi-Wan were having an affair! How could you do this to me! You said you loved me!" he turned his head away. Amidala was shocked, she and Obi-Wan were not having an affair, they were just friends as they had always been. Also, lately Anakin had been with Palpatine a lot and had changed from the man she loved to a man with anger deep in his soul.
"That is not true Anakin! I would never do that to you! I do love you!" Anakin looked at her with tears in his eyes, his eyes clear and blue like they used to be, he looked so much in pain. "Sure you would say that," He went into the fresher, got dressed again and left the room, crying. Amidala leaned up against the wall, trying to be strong, fighting the tears. She was a strong woman she would not cry.
She fought and fought the tears, but they over whelmed her. She slid down the wall and cried into her hands. That is not how she wanted to night to go. With the help of her handmaidens she had made a wonderful dinner so she could tell him her surprise. He had not shown up, even after she told him about this morning. He had been kind then.
All she wanted to tell him today was that they were going to be parents. She was pregnant, and she was afraid her husband had left forever over a lie that the Chancellor had told him. How could this happen! She cried more into her hands. Her world was falling apart, piece by piece. And she had no idea how to put it back together.
