I sigh as Fran and I are shoved into the dungeon. "Imperial hospitality eh?" I ask shaking my head. "Shut it!" The guard snapped. Touchy. I sigh and look down at Vaan as he's thrown at my feet, then watch the guards leave. "We'd better get somewhere more remote." I tell Fran as I pick Vaan up and hoist him over my shoulder. That blow was harder than I thought.

Sighing, I lay him down and look at Fran. "I'm going to find us a way out. You stay here and keep an eye on him." The Viera told her Hume partner. "Why do I have to stay and babysit? I don't do well with children Fran, you know that." I tell her as I look at Vaan. "The guards recognized us, I'm sure. He's in danger being seen with us, and besides we have to return him to his friend in Rabanastre." She said and flicked his nose as she walked off.

I rub my nose and groan. I hate it when she does that. Sighing, I look down at Vaan and take a swig of water from the skein attached to my belt. He's dreaming, mumbling in his sleep.

"I need water." Fran said as she returned after an hour of searching. "Here." I hand her the skein and watch her take a drink. "He hasn't moved?" She asked. "No, but at least he's alive." I point out as I see him breathing. "He just needs to rest. I healed his head as best as I could." I tell her. I'm rubbish at magicks.

I sit back down and sigh as she walks off again. The blow couldn't be that hard. Oh well. He won't be in our hair much longer. As soon as we get back to Rabanastre. The stone. I get up and pull it out. Damn. A waste of time.

When Fran returns again, I look up at her. "The stone is Nethicite." I tell her with a growl. "We were arrested for Cid's most valued treasure." I tell her. "Relax. Let Vaan keep the stone then. Your father will not get a hold of it." She assured Balthier. "Why can't I destroy the stone? Vaan won't miss it." I tell her glaring at the rock in Vaan's pocket. "No." She said simply and walked off. "Bah." I mutter in reply and sit back in my corner.

About time. I watch Vaan start to stir. "You're awake." I tell him and watch him get to his feet.
