What I've Done
A Dr. K story, somewhat inspired by the Linkin Park song with the same title.
Just before the RPM started.
I am worse than Pandora. Pandora only unleashed the inevitable to humankind; I have done something much, much worse. I have unleashed Venjix to the world. It was not my intention to do so, as was starting the program that created it.
I shall start from the beginning-
Project VENJIX was officially launched noon of June 18, 2158 with me, Dr. Kayla Meyers, age fifteen, at its head. There was no press release, as it was, of course, top secret, but the media tried to get a hold of anyone who knew anything about Project VENJIX.
The objective was to create a sophisticated robot that felt, thought for itself, and had ambitions of its own- in other words, a more complicated and advanced robot with artificial intelligence.
It took two and a half years, millions of billions of funds, countless of hours of research, and experimental failures, but we finally did it- a robot with the likeness of a human, with a brain of its own. It was practically human, with the exception of it not being able to breathe.
For lack of imagination, we named it Venjix.
Venjix was fully functional and even helped around the laboratory, codenamed TIN CAN, at times.
Then, one day, Venjix's circuits went into full frontal overload. I suppose it was due to the other scientists giving it too much information at the same time, and the work they put it through. Of course, Venjix was happy to oblige. The truth of the matter was, we took it for granted, like a slave.
We managed to repair it, but things were never the same since then. Venjix learned to refuse and even defy orders. Jason Brutus, one of my colleagues from ALPHABET SOUP, caused everything else to get worse. He got tired of Venjix's defiance and decided to tamper with its circuits and something happened during the time when Jason began to reconnect Venjix's wires- the robot went completely rampant.
It escaped with all of the security codes and passwords of nearly every computer and electronic device inside TIN CAN, along with most of the worlds' security codes. Against all odds, Venjix managed to infiltrate TIN CAN and the rest of the world, though our computers. It's possible that when Jason rewired him, Venjix acquired the ability to go inside electronic devices- computers, mobile phones, television.
In a matter of hours, Venjix had taken over the entire world and reinforced his rule over all by making lesser robots to do its bidding and destroy everything that gets in its way. Not even I could do much against Venjix.
I knew to launch Project RANGER, an original idea of my own design, immediately.
Never in all of my seventeen years did I think I would have to count on three other fellow teenagers to wash away what I've done. What I've condemned the world to face.
I'm just trying to explain how Venjix was created, and shedding a little light on why Dr. K didn't reveal herself from the beginning.
