Warning before reading: This fan fiction is based off of the Pilot chapter for the series, so before reading, read that first. You're more than likely to find it on any manga site that hosts Naruto as chapter 0.
I attempted to do a fan fiction based on this concept before, but in hindsight, it was pretty bad. The pacing was too fast, and the dialogue I'm sure was nothing to write home about. Not to mention almost nobody read it, which I guess is a good thing. I'd rather be ignored than have it become the "My Immortal" of Naruto.
"What's the matter, fox-boy?" the raven-haired 12-year-old boy taunted. "I thought you said you 'got stronger!'" Naruto Uzumaki lied on the ground bleeding as his enemy developed black flame-like markings on his skin. He looked into the boy's crimson eyes with terror, like as if he was a death god in human form.
This is it, Naruto thought to himself. This is really how I'm going to die. The boy then emits electric energy from the palm of his hand.
"This is it, Uzumaki," the demonic boy proudly said. "For the honor of both my clan and Hebi-sama, I give you this: CHIDORI!" The sparks on the boy's hand get more rapid. Naruto closed his eyes and prepared for the worst.
They say when you're on the verge of death, your life flashes before your eyes.
Twelve years ago, a Nine-tailed fox ravaged Mount Oinari. To combat this beast, the Nine Great Sages of Oinari fought the demon, and eight of them lost their lives. I was the survivor. My name is Hiruzen Sarutobi: the Chief of Mount Oinari and the village below it.
After slaying the fox, we found out that it had a son. Since it was a harmless baby, we decided to spare it and raise it as our own in an attempt to make peace with the Yokai race. We named him Naruto Uzumaki.
Twelve years later, Naruto pulled one too many pranks, so I made him do a task as punishment: find a friend. For him, it seemed difficult since his behavior ensured that he had none. In Oinari Village, he met a painter named Kuroda, a bitter man who couldn't trust anyone after a close friend of his attempted to kill him. When his student was murdered and a painting he was working on got stolen, Naruto was framed, but Kuroda decided to take the fall for him until he can find the real killer.
After some investigating, Naruto's keen sense of smell allowed him to find the real killer: the police chief and his deputy. Naruto used his jutsu to defeat the corrupt cops and have them arrested.
After Kuroda is freed, he and Naruto have become friends. However, this was only the beginning of Naruto's journey.
