"BAU team, conference room in five minutes. We have a case" announces Hotch, files in hand as he walks out of his office. I glance up from the coffee I'm making and see Agent Peter Miller, God's gift to women everywhere, striding towards me.
"Hey girl," he says with a grin that would make so many girls melt. But not this one. "Say, what would you think of just you, me, and a candle-lit dinner?"
God, he is so clueless. "Thanks, but I'm not interested" I grumble, moving towards the conference room. JJ and Prentiss are by my side as soon as I walk away from Miller.
"Wow, he's stunning. You should give him a chance," says JJ with a mischievous grin. I grit my teeth and shake my head. I need to get this off my chest soon, or I'm going to explode.
"You guys would be so cute together, I can just picture it" Prentiss adds. I grind my teeth as we get to the conference room, the whole team is already there.
JJ speaks again as we enter the room. "Just one date, honey! See how it –"
I turn to face her, aware of every single pair of eyes on my back. "I'm lesbian!" I almost yell. "So I will never go out with Agent Miller!"
I see JJ's surprised face break into a smile "Oh, honey, I had no idea! I'm so sorry!"
Tears are in my eyes as I turn around, prepared to see disgusted faces. Broken relationships with the people I trust my life with.
Instead I just see smiles.
"I had a feeling" Prentiss whispers as she hugs me. "I'll always support you".
Hotch gives me a rare warm smile. "If anyone has a problem with this, feel free to take it up with me" He says dangerously, just daring anyone to feel that I'm less of a person. No-one does.
Reid spouts off a statistic about lesbian relationships, Morgan smiles and nods, strong and protective. Garcia grins with delight that I came out and that our BAU family is now that much closer. This is what I love about my family, every one telling me I have their love and support, no matter what, in their own special way.
Whatever happens next, I know I won't face anything alone.
