Screams. Bodies. The familiar stench of death and dispair. A battlefield. Yona. His agonised screams filled the air, as it joined a choir of battle cries and sobs. A sickening red covered his clothes, suffocating him. Blood. Her blood. Yona. He screamed something to Jae-Ha, something about Yona and finding Yoon. Jae-Ha had froze while the blood drained from from his face when he realised what had happened.

Hak couldn't see what happened next. He was already running with Yona in his arms, tears stinging the cuts on his face. All his fault. He had hesitated to kill. Hesitated. That was all. A fatal mistake. Just not for him. Yona had pushed him out the way when a sword came swinging down. How did she even push him out of the way? Why? He would never know.

He stopped below a tree at the edge of the battle field and yelled. He needed her. He couldn't let her die. She was the last person he loved. He held her close his sobs full of pain echoed in the trees. Her eyes opened slowly, bathing Hak in their comforting gaze. A beautiful purple swirled and reflected his own blue eyes filled with despair.

She smiled. The same smile that had given him so much hope. So much faith. Then she reached out towards him. She stroked his face with her trembling hand. He pulled her into a hug and sobbed into her flaming hair. She let out a hoarse whisper about being gald she could save him. Glad he was safe. Glad he was okay. But he wasn't. He couldn't live without her. How could he.

She smiled, stroked his hair back and told him it would be alright, that she was happy she could die protecting the person that mattered the most to her. It wasn't alright. If she died he would fall apart. She was his light and only hope in a world of lies and betrayal . He kissed her. Their first and final kiss. It wasn't meant to happen like this. He pleaded with her not to die. He loved her. She couldn't die. She was his world. It wasn't meant to end like this.

Then Yoon appeared. Not that it mattered, it was too late. A wave of grief and anger poured over his mind threatening to pull him under and drown him. He pulled her even closer and hugged her the way he had always wanted to. Time stood still. Her body was already growing cold. He screamed and sobbed untill his throat was raw. She couldn't be gone. He still had so much to tell her. So much to do with her. All these years he had loved her and now she was gone. All because he failed.

It had been three years of suffering and pain since then. Since he had cradled her weak and delicate body for the last time. He would never get to see Yona again. He had cost her her life. All the things he loved about yona would now be nothing more than a memory. Her smile, her innocence, and all the things she had done were being forgotten.

Hak stood at the top of the clff while the wind whipped through his hair like claws tearing at his scalp. His feet were scratched and bloodied from the hike up. Not that he could feel the pain. It was nothing like the groaning and twisting of his agonised heart. It would never stop. Yona. Images flashed in his mind, still fresh no matter how much he tried to forget.

He couldnt take it anymore. It was all his fault. The guilt, the suffering and the grief had become the only companion he had. He was her bodyguard. He had vowed to give his life to protect her, the girl he loved. He didn't want to remember it. He just couldnt live with what he'd done. He just wanted it to end. And that was when he jumped.
