Disclaimer: I do not own Redwall or any of the characters in the story. They all belong to Brian Jacques, and I simply took the characters and added a storyline to it. That is all.

Everyone marched alongside the road, some cheering and chanting, while some moped and cried over the past events that had just passed. The lives that were lost in the battle of Marshank, the lives they taken, the era of piece that has finally came upon the enslaved land. All of them were either happy or sad after the tragic battle. Among these creatures was a young mouse, by the name of Yarrow. He, and everyone else was headed for Noonvale, their new home-to-be. They were passing through the mountain passage before he stopped for a moment and stood back from the crowd, staring off to a cliff nearby. The crowd was starting to disappear from sight.

Brome noticed that Yarrow was staring off to the cliff. He ran up to Yarrow to check what was wrong. "Hey Yarrow, what's wrong my friend?"

"Oh… hey Brome…" he muttered silently, "look, I need some time alone for a bit, I'll catch up with you and the others soon alright?"

"Sure…" he said slowly, realizing what he was talking about, "look if there's anything you need, anything at…"

"No, it's alright, I'll just be a minute," he said, interrupting Brome.

"Okay…" he said slowly, starting to leave.

Yarrow sighed heavily to himself and walked over to the cliff. He leaned down and stared at the grave of his friend, Juniper. He smiled as he slowly reached down and touched the sling that had belonged to Juniper, making sure not to move it or disturb the grave in any way.

"Hey Juniper… it's finally over… all the time we had spent as slaves, all the suffering, all the fighting… it's over now… I…" he started sniffling as tears slowly came to his eyes, "I just wished you were here to see this…"

"Hey chap, what's wrong me boy?" a voice asked nearby. Yarrow turned to see the onlooker, seeing the hare, Ballaw. "Aye, I thought I told you to make the best of things chap."

Yarrow began to cry, "I k… know… but it's just that… it's just… it's so… hard, knowing that I'll never see my friend anymore. I… I'm trying so hard… so hard not to cry, but I can't forget Juniper… I can't forget him… I won't forgive myself if… if I… if I forget him… I just can't cope with all this so… so soon…"

Ballaw walked up to Yarrow and embraced him, "there, there me lad. I know it's hard for you, but think about it, would Juniper want you to live like this for the rest of your life? Do you think the chap would want you to be sad forever?"

"N… no…" he sobbed quietly.

"Exactly me lad, now buck up and keep your chin high an all, wot?" he replied cheerfully, breaking the embrace. "Come on, we're quite a ways away from the group now you know."

"Yeah, lets…" he said with a smile through the tear-stained face. He was heading out with Ballaw, but stopped for a moment and turned to the grave real quick and stared at it for a moment. "Thanks for being my friend Juniper, I'll never forget you…"

"You coming?" Ballaw asked from afar, waving his paws at him.

"Yeah," he replied, running towards his friend.

The two ran together towards the group, towards their future, and towards their new home. From afar, a young mouse watched them running off into the distance.

"Goodbye Yarrow… I won't forget you too…" he said slowly. He saw Yarrow turn his head around for a second before he smiled and faded away.

Please R&R. Just to let some of you people know, this is NOT, I repeat, not a slash in anyway. Just two friends hugging, nothing more, nothing less...
