The day started out just like any other, but by the end of it his hole world will be turned upside down because this would be the day Naruto Namikaze found out that he was a demi-god. Now the very foundation of Mt. Olympus will be rocked as Naruto walks the path no one ever expected.
Summer vacation had just started last week and right now he was sitting in the back of his dad's old red jeep as he and his parents where making their way through Yosemite National Forest. The sun was high in the sky and their windows were rolled down. Every year during his school summer vacation his mom and dad would plan some family outing. like last year when they went to Disney world, but this time he had suggested to visit a National park.
"Alright, Mr. navigator where to next?" his dad called back to him and looking away from the tall trees they were passing. Naruto opened the park map they had picked up at the visitor center when they had first arrived.
"Murphy Creek Trailhead should be just up ahead dad." Naruto called out to the older blond who was driving the car. Naruto had always been called his father's shorter clone. From there spike blond hair, light skin and deep blue eye's it was no real surprise. Which could not be said about his mother who had dark eye's and long deep red hair that reached all the way down her back. They had stayed on the road for a few more minutes till Minato pulled his jeep in the parking area off the side of the main road. Waiting for the car to be parked Naruto grabbed his pack and the map and jumped out of the jeep too eager to wait for his parent's
"Oh, honey this place is so beautiful." Kushina called out as she started to snap at the surrounding forest with her camera. And his mom was right from where they were standing Naruto could see the tall rocky foot hills on the other side of the road and from the start of the trail he could see right through the trees, he could see the clear blue waters of the lake they were planning to visit today.
"Alright Namikaze family is everyone ready." Minato called out as he finished checking the laces of his hiking boots
"Yeah, come on you slow pokes." Naruto called out as he started to walk ahead of his parents towards the beginning of the trail down to the lake.
"Naruto don't go running off." He could hear his mother shout out to him, but the blond teen just couldn't help himself for as long a he could remember he always loved having the great open sky above him.
"relax Kushina, he's just excited." Minato told his frustrated wife as he interlocked his hand with hers as husband and wife made their way down to the lake right behind their son. Naruto didn't get half way down the path to the lake when the horrified screams of his mother drew his attention back to the start of the path.
"MOM! DAD!" Naruto called as he broke in to a dead sprint to find his parent's. he found his father's body first, there lying face down with a growing pool of blood under him was Minato Uzumaki.
"D-DAD!" Naruto cried out as he ran over to his father, but before he had time to register what was going on. Another scream got his attention and that's when he realized his mother's body wasn't here. Continuing to run the rest of the way up the path, leaving his father's body behind. He found his mother was trapped inside the jeep as a black bear was trying to rip the door open. Getting a closer look Naruto realized it wasn't a bear but a black hound the size of a rhino, with lava-red eyes and fangs like daggers and it was now looking straight at him.
It lapped at him. It was like an enormous shadow with teeth, Naruto didn't have any time to react as it hit him. stumbling backward with the beast pinning him down, Naruto felt its razor-sharp claws start to rip in to his face. Naruto's face was on fire as he could feel worm liquid begin to run down his chin and neck. luckily for him it didn't last long as the massive black hound was knocked off him by his mother ramming it with the jeep.
"Naruto, baby speak to me are you ok?" Kushina was calling out frantically as she lifted her son up in her arms, but their reunion was abruptly cut short when the bear dog returned for more. Naruto was thrown several feet away as it grabbed hold of his mother in its jaw and violently tossed her around like a ragdoll. Naruto could only watch in horror as his mother's lifeless body was dropped to the ground next to the totaled jeep.
"MOM!" Naruto shouted as he looked over at his mother and then at the bear dog as a raging wave of anger rose up inside him. getting back on to his feet Naruto ran at the monster dog with the only thought on his mind to kill it. and that's when it happened. The sky above which had been clear only a few seconds later was now overcast, a huge storm suddenly had appeared, with clouds blacker than Naruto had ever seen. And right as the bear dog was about to be on top of him again a huge thunder bolt came down from the clouds above. Naruto could feel the electric energy passed through his whole bean, and straight at the bear dog vaporizing it in a second. With the big dog gone Naruto runs to check on his mother, but he can only get halfway to her. When the sudden burst of energy he had received from the lightning left his body as his vision started to darken and before he knows it, he had passed out.
The steady rhythm of the hospital monitors filled the room as the blond teen lay in the bed. Naruto had been found only a few hours after he and his family had been attacked. Park rangers who had been driving down the road, heading back to the visitor's center where able to see the crashed jeep and he had been airlifted to the nearest hospital. that had been just the other day and now he was left wondering what that thing was that had attacked him. And what was going to happened to him now that his mother and father were gone.
"their gone." He kept telling himself he knew it had happened, but he was still finding it difficult to accept it. The thing against which he had been fighting on and off ever since he had come to was threatening to overpower him. He could feel a burning, prickling felling in the inner corners of his eyes. He blinked and stared up at the ceiling
"their gone." He told himself once more, now the burning feeling was in his throat too. He wished it was not true. The full weight of everything he had seen that day seemed to fall upon him. The sight of his mother and father dead on the ground all started spinning in his head until he could hardly bear it, until he couldn't stand the feeling any longer. The howl of misery that he had been fighting to keep in had finally got out. He couldn't remember a time in his whole life that he had ever cried like this. As hot tears ran freely from his eyes and were caught by the bandages on his face, all he could do was let this wave of sorrow wash over him. He didn't know how long he was like this, but by the time he had finally stopped the sun outside his window was starting to set. Just then his room door opened, a tall dark-haired man in a long white lab coat holding a clip bored walked in.
"oh, it's just my doctor." Naruto thought as he watched the doctor walk over to his bed, but it was the next person that walked in to his room that was a real shock to him.
"Grandpa!" Naruto called out excitedly. His dad's dad, Jiraiya was tall just like his dad, but instead of blond hair his was silver white and reached down his back in a very long pony tail. He was dressed in his usual dark green suit and red coat.
"Hey kid, I came as soon I got the call." The older man said as he walked to an empty chair in the corner of the room and took a seat.
"Alright, Naruto how are you feeling today," the doctor asked as he read over Naruto's patient report
"great, can I leave now." Naruto asked just like he had always asked any time his doctor or one of the nurses came in to his room. This caused both his doctor and grandfather to laugh a little at his antics.
"I just need to check on your stitches, but yes I don't see why not." The doctor said as he walked around the bed and started to slowly remove the bandages on his face.
"Well it looks like it your starting to heal up nicely, and these should be able to come out in about a few weeks or so." The doctor said and handing Naruto a small mirror the blond was able to see his face. On both side of his cheeks Naruto could see three distinct claw marks that had been left on him by whatever had attacked him and his parents.
"looks like you have whiskers." He could hear his grandfather say form the other side of the room
"Doc, could you give me and the boy a second alone." Jiraiya told the doctor as he stood up from his chair and walked over to Naruto's bed side. For a moment it looked like the doctor was about to protest but thought better of it once he got a look at the older man's face.
"R-right I'll just go and get his release forms then." The doctor said as he left the room, Jiraiya waited till the room door was fully closed before he talked with his grandson.
"I want you to tell me what really happened out in the forest Naruto." Jiraiya said as he looked down at his grandson, Naruto was finding it very difficult to think of what to say. Never had he ever seen such a serious look on his grandfather's face before, which was normally cheerful and goofy.
"I already told the cops what happened it was a bear, it just came out of nowhere." Naruto said finding it difficult to speak about his parents.
"Naruto, I went to the spot where they found you and your parents' bodies, the fog around the area was very faint. But even with these old eyes I could still see what really happened, trust me if you can't trust family who can you trust. Jiraiya told the worried looking blond in a kind and gentle voice. So, taking a deep steadying breath Naruto began to tell his grandfather not what he had told the police that had come to question him after he had woken up but instead what had really happened to his mom and dad.
that meant telling him about the bear like dog with its glowing red eyes. Finding his father's body, the attack on his mother, starting to be attacked himself. how his mother had rammed it with the jeep, how it had come back after being hit by the car to finish her off and finally how the massive thunder bolt had come down from the sky and vaporized it. Jiraiya was silent for a moment thinking over everything that he had just been told by Naruto. So deep in thought to the point that Naruto was starting to wonder if he had even believed him at all.
"Grampa, you believe me, right?" Naruto asked wondering if it had been a good idea to tell him what had really happened.
"But I don't understand how it's even possible." Jiraiya muttered under his breath to himself till he finally realized that his grandson was looking up to him for a response.
"Don't worry kid I believe you and if I'm right which I hope, that I'm not you're in far more danger than you even realize." Jiraiya said as he stood up and tossed the hospital bag to Naruto that had his clothes inside and headed for the room door.
"look get dressed I'm going to go find your doctor, because we need to leave this place ASAP." And with that he left the blond teen alone in the room. Not being given the time to even ask what was going on and what he thought he was right about. Naruto was just glad about leaving the hospital. tossing his clothes on as quickly as possible, once he was fully dressed, he left the hospital room. Stepping out in to the hall way Naruto looked around and spotted his grandfather at the nurse's station, speaking with his doctor.
This didn't really take long either as Naruto just had to stand by for a few minutes while his grandfather filled out his release forms. Once everything was signed off Naruto followed Jiraiya through the halls to the nearest elevator. Stepping inside and pressing the first-floor button Naruto and his grandfather road the elevator down in silence till they reached the ground floor. Once out the elevator Jiraiya pulled out a cell phone from the inside of his red coat and pushed down on his speed dial. Naruto could hear the phone ring for a few seconds before a man on the other line answered.
"I got the kid, bring the car around." he speaks in the phone before ending the call. Once outside they only had to wait for a minute before a long shiny black town car pulled up right in front of them.
"Alright get in Naruto." His grandfather told him and not really given much of an explanation to what was going on all he could do was follow the older man in to the car.
"take us to the airport and call my pilot to get the plain ready to take off." Jiraiya told the driver as he polled his phone out and started to make more calls. As the car took off from the hospital, Naruto just couldn't believe how his grandfather could afford all this stuff.
"all he does is wright lady's romance books." Naruto thought to himself as the car moved along the road. He wanted to aske his grandfather what was going on, but he looked to be having a very serious conversation on the phone. By the time they had finally got off the freeway and made it to the airport Jiraiya was done on the phone and was now looking more concerned than ever before.
"Um, grandpa where exactly are we going." Naruto asked as the car pulled to a stop and they parked in front of his grandfather's private plain.
"New York." Jiraiya simply said as he stepped out the car and walked towards the waiting plain.
"New York? What's in New York?" Naruto asked as he moved out the car and fallowed his grandfather.
"An old teacher of mine, who might have some answers." His grandfather simply said.
