Thunder

At the Public Tennis Courts

"Oi, take it easy, Haru! I'm not that good in tennis yet!" Marui shouted as he tried to return one of Niou's shots.

Niou just smirked, hitting more of the same shots at Marui. "You won't get it unless you try!" he said, hitting continuously.

The ball passed through Marui quickly. "H-Haru! Take it easy, will you?" he complained.

"I win!" Niou cheered, ignoring Marui.

The red-head frowned. "Che, you're still better than me."

Niou put his bag over his shoulder, "You need to do better than that if you want to beat me," he said, smirking.

That smirk was getting annoying.

"Come on, let's go," Niou called. Marui followed him, his bag over his shoulder.

Marui sighed. "I'm hungry. I need food!" he complained. "I want cake!" he added. He looked inside his bag, "Ahh, I don't have any food. Hey, Haru, do you have any food in that bag of yours?"

Niou searched his bag for food, "Nah, I don't have any."

Marui sighed as his stomach growled loudly, "Quiet, you!"

"Hey, there's a new bakery there! I haven't seen it before…" Marui said happily, pointing to the store ahead of them.

Niou looked up as he heard thunder. "I think it's going to rain. We better head home."

"Can't we stay at that store over there? I'm so hungry!" Marui said. "Please, please, please!" he begged.

"Fine. But just until the rain is over, okay?" Niou replied.

They heard the thunder once again. "We better hurry," Marui reminded. As soon as they got in the store, it started raining.

Inside the Bakery

They both sat at a table. "You want anything to eat, Haru?" Marui asked.

"Uh, maybe just some Chocolate Cake or something," Niou replied.

Marui got out his wallet and headed for the counter. He ordered a Strawberry Cheesecake for himself and a Chocolate Cake for Niou.

"Here," Marui said, putting down Niou's cake in front of him. "You're paying for that, right?" he asked.

"Huh? This isn't a treat?"

Marui nodded.

"Fine," Niou said as he took a piece of his cake.

While they were eating their cake, Marui heard a thunder clap. He jumped at the sound of it. "Haru, did you hear that?"

"The thunder?"

"Yeah."

"Yes."

The lights flickered, and Marui started getting scared. He heard the noise once again. And this time, the lights went off. He practically screamed.

The store clerk quickly grabbed the store microphone, "We're sorry for the inconvenience, the lights are currently getting repaired, so please wait a moment. Thank you," she announced.

Marui clung onto Niou, shivering. He was frightened.

Niou looked down at Marui, who was too startled to even look up, "Oi, Maru, don't tell me you're scared?"

Marui stayed silent.

"Are you scared?" Niou asked. "Maru?"

"T-Thunder… a-and it's d-dark."

Niou smiled slightly. "You're scared of thunder? And the dark?"

Marui shivered. "Yeah," he answered, feeling embarrassed.

"Heh, I didn't know someone like you would be scared of just this," Niou teasingly said.

"Haru… hold me."

"Huh?"

"Just do it. I'm scared," Marui muttered. And Niou did so.

The lights went back on. "Thank you for waiting," the clerk said through the microphone.

Marui stood up, and scratched his eyes. He had closed them the whole time.

"I better get going," he yawned. "My mom will get mad if I'm not home in half an hour."

"I'll take you home," Niou offered, pulling out his umbrella.

They headed outside. It was still raining.

Out of a sudden, Marui sneezed.

"I think you caught a cold, Maru," Niou said, looking at Marui's watery eyes. He put his jacket over him and pulled him close.

Marui sniffled. "Thanks, Haru…"
