The House of Blyledge expected great things of Ushastadeliantvar. She noticed things: the articulation of an insect's leg, the change in air pressure before a storm. She was sober, quiet; her speech had an acuity and authority beyond her years.
She looked into the Untempered Schism without flinching, returning from the ordeal with a beatific expression on her young face. When they caught her vivisecting a tafelshrew, well, that was only proof of a scientist's mind in the making, wasn't it? A little guidance and she would be all right.
Ushas looked down from her cold high place and smiled.
