Don't owe them, and Bobby I don't even want. But I somehow got stuck with him, dammit!
Oral History
He grabbed her neck, pulling her face closer to his, trying to press his mouth on hers in a demanding, hurried way. At first she succeeded in turning her head away, her lips avoiding his at the last moment, but then he forced her to turn her face towards him and kissed her hard and avidly. And although she struggled in vain and tried to free herself, she felt herself remembering, saw the memories of lost feelings resurfacing in her head.
He had come aboard more or less by accident, booking a trip to Moebius and never getting off again. They were attacked on their way to their destination and Bobby Jenkins proved himself a skilled and ruthless fighter – and a natural born leader, abandoning his passanger role and swiftly taking over, ordering the rest of the crew in close combat against the Ogami who had boarded them, while Beka was busy flying them all to saftey. They made it all unharmed... and Bobby stayed onboard.
But a few weeks later he had asked Beka out on a drift in orbit around San-Ska-Re, to watch a game of wether-polo and treat themselves with the usual after-match barbecue... It had been Beka's suggestion after accepting his invitation, and it was a thrilling experience to see those noisy, aggressive Nietzscheans on their sweating horses, drenched in the blood of the poor animal they were hurling around. And one that Beka loved, while the look an Bobby's face clearly showed that he hoped to never have to witness another one again.
Upon their return on the Maru he had moved in to kiss her. Averting her face, she had refused at first. But then she reconsidered and got hold of his head with both her hands, her mouth practically devouring his lips with consuming passion. He felt good, tasted good, too, of mutton, mint and spices and something else... a faint trace of a flavour entirely his own. He was shy at first, and later on complaisant, letting her take the lead and obediently submitting to every wish her lips, her teeth and tongue indicated.
She loved the gentle manner with which he let her have her way and for a long, long time after they split up she still was comparing all men she encountered to Bobby's intoxicating first kiss.
She shook her head in anger, after he let go of her. His kiss had been angry, hungry, harsh and brutal. It swept away the image she still held of Bobby. The man that still haunted her thoughts from time to time... it had taken Bobby to get rid of him.
