Fight For Freedom

At the Hot Gates King Leonidas and 300 Spartans stood against a vast Persian army. They were destroyed, but they never wavered in their determination to hold their position.

They did not submit.

Sparta mourns her heroes.

There's a sound heard across the land

It's heard across the sea

You'll only hear it if you listen with your hearts

And one day hope to be free

Dilios was sent back before the last battle – to spread the tale of Leonidas and his 300. How 300 Spartans stood against hundreds of thousands Persians.

He was sent back, so that Sparta would know what had happened to her sons. So that Sparta and the rest of Greece would know what had happened at the Hot Gates.

That they would know that Leonidas did not submit, that they fought till the end.

To hear the sound of freedom many gave their lives

They fought for you and me

Those memories will always live in silence

And now it's our time to be free

Leonidas fought for the freedom of his people, for the freedom of Sparta. He and his men fought and died together, for Sparta.

Now they are gone and only their memory remains. The tale of their last stand spread quickly over all of Greece. A tale of bravery and victory.

Now Sparta is once again facing Xerxes' army.

Where the eagles fly - I will soon be there

If you want to - come along with me my friend

Say the words and you'll be free

From the mountains to the sea

We'll fight for freedom again

Xerxes' army is still vast, but they have lost many men to Leonidas. Over 20 000 were killed by the Spartans.

And with his last thow of his spear, Leonidas showed everyone that even God-kings do bleed, that Xerxes is not immortal or all-powerful.

Now it is time to face the Persian army again, it is time fight for freedom again. They will not submit, they stand before the Persians and proudly defy them.

Scream out loud for all the world to hear

From sea to shining sea

Let freedom ring and every man be king

To live as one through the years

Dilios stands before the Spartan army and looks across the battlefield at the approaching Persians. Today they will fight them again – and now they are not 300 Spartans, but several thousand. And other Greeks stand with them.

Their shields and spears were gleaming in the sunlight and their red cloaks could be seen across the battlefield. They were Spartans. They remember.

Now is the time we all must stand together

So raise your hands show them we are strong

Side by side the fight goes on forever

Marching to the battle with this song

REMEMBER.
