I wish I could eat those words because now I am a fourteen year old princess ruling a kingdom at war, and taking care of three younger siblings Alyss, john, and Bramble.
"My princess," Lord Bradford said "your presence is requested by Brambles chamber maid she will not fall asleep."
"Of course, Lord, will you walk with me; I don't like walking alone after the break in?" I asked. Lord Bradford was a stout old man, with a snow white beard that went down mid-chest. He was always very comfortable to talk to. His son is a cadet in our army. I haven't seen jack in a while so I was wondering what he must look like.
"My lady, is there something bothering you?"
"Ahh… you have your fathers sarcasm." He joked.
Laughing I said "I actually was wondering when jack was coming home, I haven't seen him since we where twelve." When the war started there was a war draft and that was the last time I saw him. We used to be really close.
"Well, princess," he started "he is coming home next week."
"Congratulations, I do miss my old friend."
"I'm sure you do my lady." He responded. With that we walked the rest of the way in silence.
"Bramble, Bramble, Bramble, calm down child." I said walking through the door.
"Your highness," the chamber maid started "no matter what I do princess will not stop crying."
"It's okay; you look pale are you okay?" I asked.
"Yes, well no princess has been running me ragged."
"I can tell, here, why don't you take the rest of the day off. You can draw yourself a bath and catch up on some sleep."
"Princess, you have a job to do, and a very difficult one at that."
"It's quite alright I have finished my paper work for today I'll handle this trouble maker." I said with a smile and a wink. The chambermaid was mine and Alyss's, she knew when I was joking. She looked at me amazed.
"I can't believe that with all the pain you have suffered my little Genevieve is still in you." With that she left.
