"No! I can't! I—"
"If you still respect me as your older brother, you will do as I say!"
Stern orange-amber eyes met teary jadeite green eyes. For a moment, the former soften his glare, realizing that he might be too harsh.
"It's all right. Don't cry." He wiped away the tears on his younger brother's cheeks when they streamed down from his eyes.
"You definitely deserve this chance to live, don't you know?"
The younger brother only shook his head hard, clinging onto his older brother, refusing to let go.
"Come on, stop acting like a kid now. You're nineteen, not nine." The older brother chuckled; hugged his young sibling, stroking his soft ginger hair. "You can do more than I can if you go back. Our home needs you; our friends need you; and okaa-san needs you too."
"But they still need you, nii-san! Especially okaa-san and me! I need you, nii-san! I need you!" The ginger-hair youth buried his face in his brother's chest and sob. "I need you to be with me, nii-san. I can't face everything all alone. I'm not that strong…"
The orange-eye blonde abruptly hushed his younger brother; look him straight in the eye.
"You're a red-coat, a squadron leader and a FAITH, remember? Most importantly, you are also the trustworthy jovial brat who stood by his friends and comrades, while holding strong to his beliefs. You'll never be alone, I guarantee."
"But—"
"Hey, have some faith in yourself, alright?"
He comforted his young sibling; a twinkle in his orange eyes. After a while, the sobbing finally stopped, followed by a silent nod.
"And I'm not a brat." Wet green eyes look up to bright orange ones in defiance, a slight pout on his lips.
"Okay, okay, you're not." The blonde replied, playfully ruffling his brother's hair, while the latter squirmed and tried to retaliate. Both brothers laugh at their own silly antics as they finally sat down side by side.
"You should return now, y' know, before it gets too late." The blonde spoke; looking at his ginger-hair sibling. "No matter what happens, we'll always remain as brothers, and I'll always be there when you need me. Get me clear?"
The ginger-hair youth nodded, and stood up. Before he left, he look back at his blonde sibling.
"Loud and clear, nii-san." A sweet smile appeared on his face as he bade his final goodbye.
We are unrelated; yet our bond is stronger than blood brothers.
We are different; yet we resemble each other in so many ways.
"Sayonara, Heine." Orange eyes saw the ginger-hair youth disappear from its view.
The familiar smell of antiseptic flooded his nasal passage as Heine struggle to open his eyes. The white surroundings with busy medical personnel running around or fussing about him, along with the pain in his body, confirmed that he was indeed alive, with serious injuries though, in a hospital or infirmary.
"Thanks…I'll always miss you, Miguel- niisan."
