When We Where

As I sat there drinking a cup of steaming tea, my thoughts began to twist and turn down the winding path that was my past.
When Syoaron and I were six he promised he would marry me.
When we were seven we started training together.
When we were eight he passed me, so I trained harder than ever to catch up.
When we were nine the Elders discovered that he had magic and he was forced to start training with it, without me.
When we were ten we moved to Japan and started our search for the Clow Cards.
When we were eleven he fell in love with Sakura Kinomoto.
When we were twelve we where called back to Hong Kong.
When we were thirteen I called of the engagement so I could see my cousin happy.
When we were fourteen he gave up the title of Li to be with her.
When we were fifteen I was told that I, indeed, did have magic and that I was the heir to the Li Clan now that Syoaron had forsaken our Clan.
When I was sixteen I found out that I still loved my cousin with all my heart when he announced that Sakura was pregnant with his child and that they were getting married, I acted like I didn't care.
When he was seventeen he found out that I had taken his place, he resented me for it.
When I was eighteen I came into my full right and became the leader of the Li Clan. Syoaron's sisters as my best friends and confidents.
When I was nineteen I married Eriol, at the Elders wish, to keep the Li blood pure.
When I was twenty I told Eriol that he would never have my full heart, he understood.
At twenty-one I gave birth to a healthy boy that I have named Xialong-Li in honor of his forgotten cousin.
Here I am at thirty-six my Xialong has turned sixteen and I couldn't be more proud as he is training day in day out to become the next leader of the Li Clan.
I am Meiling Li and that was my story.
